iRacing.com keeps on expanding their track portfolio in terms of European tracks as the recent announcement on Oulton Park and Brands Hatch joining the simulation is now followed by news that Dutch Circuit Park Zandvoort will be available to iRacing subscribers in early 2010.
Opened in 1948, Zandvoort will be the first iRacing track to be located in mainland Europe. The track has hosted 30 editions of the Dutch Formula One Grand Prix, today’s layout is 4.18 kilometers long and consists of 11 turns.
Located in the near-beach dunes, the track is notorious for sand being blown on track. The layout is made up of slow and quick corners as well as many elevation changes that make Zandvoort a rather tricky place to drive. Even though Formula One is long gone, the track still hosts many major events, including DTM & WTCC touring car racing as well as an annual A1GP event.

Now we know when the ‘78/’79 Mario Andretti Lotus will come out. This will be the perfect track for it, as Mario won the 1978 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. European’s will definitely be looking at iRacing more seriously now!

Great news!! On the other hand, i had great hopes for Zolder ;-) The 79 Lotus debuted there and did a good race.

I don’t believe the current layout is the same as in ‘79.
I’ll be trying this track for sure.

today’s layout-out is more suited to slower touring cars then fast F1 cars.

There is I believe a turn which now has houses on it and the track curves around there obviously. If you watch a video like this one, you can see the huge majority of the track is intact, even from as far back as 1967.

Wow what a surprise!

I’ve been to a few races there, including DTM, F3 and A1GP.
There has never been an correct in game version of Zandvoort, so I’m really looking forward to this release, although I don’t own iRacing (to expensive, but let’s not talk about that

I wouldn’t say a huge majority. About one half of the old GP track is gone.

The part after Scheivlak is new, everything before that corner was there in the F1-era as well.
Been there at the Masters of F3 some weeks ago.

Although rFactor has a large share of trash mods/tracks, it still has more quality content then iRacing does. rF doesn’t have that many laser scanned tracks but who really cares unless it is a track you run in real life. The difference is 100% of iRacing’s content is quality. I am very happy with iRacing’s track selection. They have every track in my region that I would run in real life. But I am still waiting for some GT/Touring cars. Until then I will stick with my league running rFactor. At some point though I will probably drop my iRacing sub.

weird discussion again… i do Run iRacing and rFactor.. they both rule in their own field. so let not start throwing mud again. sometimes reading these ” this and that is better then this and that” makes me feel like talking to the local infants.
Lets talk stuff on topic my friends.
