After the popular Nordschleife video comparison, here is another video to compare real life and virtual tracks.
Alexease has composed the following video, showing a lap around the Virginia International Raceway in the Skip Barber Racing School car both in iRacing and real life. Do the iRacing tracks live up to their reputation? Find out by watching the video below.

Virtua_LM has released new previews of another stunning track creation for rFactor, showing us new shots of the Japanese Fuji Speedway in late 80s specification. Located near the famous Mount Fuji in Oyama, Japan, Fuji Speedway was opened in 1963. The track was a popular venue for sports car races as the track was part of the FIA World Sports Car Championship for Group C prototypes from 1982 to 1988. Looks like you get what you pay for. That’s the closest sim vs real comparison I’ve seen yet.
In fact at that resolution, the grass and trees from the IRacing one looked more real :)
I mean that at least the colours aren’t garish and bright like we see so often in our sims.
These are nicely toned down and desaturated to give a more realistic look. That’s from what I can make out from that video anyway.

its seriously that good it looks spot on.
Bravo iRacing it seems the Laser Scanning really does give 100% accurate tracks…
….Still wont pay for it atm though :D

pay each cars and each tracks still reasonable but paying for subcribtion and monthly fee is not my option so this will never be my sim and i swear to god i’ll never touch this

6e66o, I agree. I still haven’t used my sub. I just got my third invoice. Some GT cars or historic cars would encourage my to spend more time with it. Between a league I run with HistorX and real life, I just haven’t had the time to work my SR up.

Then why the hell are you paying for it then?
Sim version, several corners look tighter than the real one. Game looks pedestrian and dull. Monthly fee? I wouldn’t even play that if it was a one time payment to be honest. Looks bland and uninspired.

The corners look tighter? The FOV is not the same in both videos, and neither is the driver’s line in all the turns.
How is it bland and uninspired if it looks the same as real life? Another thing this video hides is all the details and great textures.
