Two new preview screenshots have surfaced in the iRacing.com forums, showing two cars that are due to be added to the lineup of vehicles the online racing simulation offers.
One shots show the Spec Racer Ford at Las Vegas, a car used in Sports Car Club of America competition. Real SCCA drivers will be using this car, fighting for real life SCCA points.
The other shot shows the first in-sim preview of the Chevrolet Impala SS NASCAR Nationwide car at Talladega. The Nationwide Impala will soon join the Sprint Cup COT car that is already available.
Both shots also show the new club logos that can be added to the car’s paint schemes soon, allowing drivers to customize their car even further and sport the badge of their regional club.

“Real SCCA drivers will be using this car, fighting for real life SCCA points.”
Care to elaborate?

So if that “real SCCA driver” (I presume you mean SCCA licensed racers…you can be an SCCA member – and competitor in things like autox and TTs without holding a race license) scores iRacing cup points, but sucks in real life, will they still get to go to the Runnoffs?
In other words – this sounds mighty grandiose, but last years iRacing Cup was just a subset of the regional series if i recall correctly and had nothing to do with any online racing.

It sounded a bit like a misunderstanding to me. But what do I know, I’ll wait for any new official announcements…
