1.7million is even more stupid than 1750. It holds 175,000. It was a typo by Montoya – I am sure he will fix it. Remember he isn’t a professional and runs this as a hobby. Don’t expect amazing journalism.

And can we PLEASE not have another price discussion? I’d pay for VLM Mid Ohio and I’d pay for this. Some wouldn’t pay for VLM Mid Ohio, and they wouldn’t pay for this. It is a personal choice, big deal!

I am so tired of all iRacing bashing. There is a couple of sims that I don’t like but other than endless crying I just don’t play em and ignore discussion if run into one.

I understand that people have principles against monthly fees and it is even ok to say it publicly once or twice and of course some people just don’t like the sim at all. What I don’t understand is infantile abysmal flaming. Do you really think that your opinion isn’t clear to all?

Bashing is so annoying that I have dropped off from some forums which is a pity.

Im not yet an iRacing subscriber, id say some tracks do present more value for money than others, PLEASE dont take this as an oval bashing comment, but a track with only 4 turns is NOT worth $20, Vegas, homestead or daytona, perhaps as they have infield variants. Im waiting to see if watkins, sebring, road america & infineon will drop from $25 which I think is just too much.

If they bring out some real-racing tracks(yes, I’m bashing :happy:) and some open-wheelers I might just subscribe, but not the way it is now.

For iRacing news posts, I just like to sit back and watch the mayhem

Montoya, you’re not alone. Keep up the good work. I’m not much of a NASCAR fan these days but I did get to go to one race (at Lime Rock Park) and had a great time. And NASCAR Racing 4 was the first true sim I got to play with a wheel and pedals, and the first one I raced online with, so the type of racing holds a special place in my heart.

Unfortunately we seem to have a few people around here who feel compelled to post the same stupid comments ad nauseam. I wonder what they think they’ll accomplish?

We live in a world of different opinions & we have the opportunity to voice those opinions. Its a shame some people, for & against a subject, find it hard to accept that someone else does not feel the same way as they do about a subject & can even take another persons opinions as a personal attack.

You are right unklepepper but I don’t understand why some people have to mock iRacing and iRacers (or any other sim) everytime there is news about it.

It is odd that if there is e.g. news that “a new car is coming to a iRacing” – several people laughs how stupid people are when paying those and when another news is published – there is again same people bashing and it just continues over and over. It is like linux vs. windows debate.

I guess I’m doing my part to heat this situation and I apologize that. Not going to continue this anymore but will instead go to find some race and grap a beer or two.

NASCAR is for a a bunch of backwards retarded rednecks. Nascar is just an excuse to watch T.V and get drunk. Why get drunk? because nobody sober would watch cars turn left for 4 hours. I guess it’s a way to get them out of their terrible life of drinking and making $30,000 a year. They are the autistic child of the North East U.S. They are as pathetic as a third world country. Every time there is an iRacing post up, some brainless idiot feels the urge to let us know how much he dislikes the sim. I still cant understand what drives people to do that. Nobody that is reading the post , is interested in knowing who hates it. i guess a serious reader wants to hear some feedback from the people who like it, so thet can get some idea about the contend.

- UncleChuckle: remarks about the pricing are also ridiculous. First of all, nobody holds a gun to your head and forces you to buy it. if you think it is overpriced , just don’t spend your money on it. Trying to point it out time after time does not make it cheaper.
My neigbour owns a Mercedes AMG.. its overpriced in my opinion, but you don’t see me put my view about that in his mailbox every morning. it would be silly , don’t you agree. Also… apart from the fact you might find it expencive, the price has usually a reason.. they would not be able to sell it for that price if it was crap.. . the man worships his car…so i guess for him the price is right… get my drift.

So, if they cut the price in half, and sell three times as many tracks, then that’s what they should do. Their cost of production is the same no matter how many they sell.

Yes and no. The cost of production of the actual media is minimal — server space — for digital downloads.

But the cost of actual production of the track is expensive due to the extensive laser scanning that iRacing performs at each facility. I doubt iRacing will drop the price of tracks when it starts building European circuits because it will cost an American-based company even more to fly staff and equipment across the pond to laser-scan those circuits than it does American circuits.

Yes, I understand they are expensive to produce, but what I’m saying is that cost is static whether they sell 1 copy, or 1000 copies. Server costs are minimal because they already need a massive amount of server power/bandwidth anyway.

Timothy Wheatley said the other day on the forums that European tracks won’t necessarily be more expensive than U.S. tracks. The reason Silverstone was so expensive was poor weather while they were scanning it, and caused it to take much longer.

Poor weather? Silverstone? Never, every time i’ve been its bin…. oh wait

Not sure where I heard this or if its true but iRacing were contracting a euro based company to scan tracks here?. This could be a more cost effective solution.

About the price, I dont go on many other sim sites that have regular iracing discussions,so this is my only source of public opinion. Discounting the stupid troll comments, many negatives seem to be the price barrier alone but otherwise many including myself would join. So lowering the additional content price would mean more would become members, paying the subs, then even more tracks/cars are sold.
