After nearly four years of development work, iRacing.com’s Dave Kaemmer & John Henry have announced that their ambitious project has left the alpha test phase and final beta testing is about to start. Almost 1000 beta testers have been recruited to test the simulation as well as the corresponding web services.
“For people who have been with us from the start, including the development team, testers and the racing enthusiasts anticipating our launch, it has been a long road,” said Henry. “But the start of beta testing is an enormous milestone for us. Most importantly, for all those who have been so patient, it’s a sign that we’re nearly there. While we still have a lot of work to complete, we anticipate that beta will be measured in weeks rather than months.”

I hope iRacing fails miserably and dies the horrible death it deserves.

Just curious, but why? I don’t know much about it. Is it that bad? What’s up with it?

More to do with iRacing suing community members.

The problem is not the monthly payment…
They started legal action against a community for the simple fact that this community create a mod using the platform of NASCAR 2003.
The iRacing may be the best simulator, but I doubt that I subscribe because their developers are pathetic…
Sorry for my bad english.

I wouldn’t pay any fee monthly, it’s ridiculous. I would however pay for the product once..

…ooh, very optimistic, that they are believing, that more than a handful guys will pay monthly for a sim. no.
They will learn, that a racing product, however it could be awesome finally, should have a one time pricing.
look at rfactor. this is a fair example how to do.

I would definitely pay the monthly fee if they can deliver on all the ideas they talked about in that SRT interview. rFactor is nice and all but is to fractured to have a good online racing experience. I have a server up 24/7 running the E21 mod. I would say 9 out of 10 people connect and get booted because they have mismatches on the mod or track. This would be a thing of the past with iRacing. But if it sucks then yeah, I will not pay. They better get it together before release. Maybe a one month trial would be a good idea. It would help get the word out if it is good.

HAHA Looks sweet & i wouldn’t have a problem w/ a monthly charge if they dont charge you for cars and tracks too. 25 bucks a track and 15 for cars? Perhaps charge in game credits for it but not rake people for more money. Hmm rfactor free.. i racing expensive. Rfactor it is . Hell TOCA race driver 3 looks as good & its not pay 2 play.
