iRacing.com – First VW Jetta TDi Previews

First preview shots of the VW Jetta TDi cup race car that will be added to the iRacing lineup quite soon have surfaced on the simulation’s website. Powered by a 2l four cylinder diesel engine, the car puts out 168hp.

The car is used in the VW Jetta TDi Cup racing series where young and aspiring drivers compete for the championship and $100.000 prize money. iRacing’s virtual version of the cup will be offering exciting incentive too, giving sim racers the chance to prove they have real driving  talent. Once the season is over, the top ranked drivers which meet the VW Jetta TDI Cup requirements (age between 16-26 and North American/Mexcio resident) will receive an invitation by Volkswagen of America and get their chance to prove themselves in a real VW Jetta TDI Cup race car.

Volkswagen will be selecting 30 drivers to compete in the real-life 2010 season and should the iRacing qualifier be among them, his/her full season will be paid for! The partnership goes even further as iRacing.com will be the primary gateway to the Driver Selections event for the 2011 VW Jetta TDI Cup season.

I wonder, will they hop around like the real car? LOL

  • hoboracer

It’s an awd vehicle, I bet it drives a lot better than the rwd solstice.

Just can’t understand this. Diesel does not belong on a racetrack imho ;)

Isn’t it supposed to be a FWD vehicle? So in my opinion it drives not really ‘better’ than the solstice.. but might be more accessible and easier to handle on the limit.
Can’t wait to give it a try! ;)

this will be a popular one, believe me.
as for the price? a bargain. If i go for a drink and take a leak i usually lose more then 15 dollars :-)
ScHiRoCk: Diesels are great on a racetrack . time you start watching endurance races. Check the ALMS and the LMS .. then find a petrol car that matches the diesels.

Im waiting 4 the wining comments?

  • Diswanio

I still prefer the exhaust notes from petrol cars tho!

Diesels are relevant in motorsports only because they are turbocharged. And if you strap 4 huge turbos even to an electric shaver, it will go fast.
Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against turbo diesels but it pisses me off that they are compared to naturally aspirated gasoline engines and everyone pisses their pants about how great they are.

Expensive piss you have. Your s**t doesn’t stink too, I gather?

Sensekhmet : it does i guess , but not as bad as your language i gather.
Answers, as yours , always seem to make me laugh, and give me that slightly arogant but “good feel” satisfaction.

Oh, I know you are arrogant and feel good about yourself. I gathered as much from your other posts. It’s an internet pandemia, it seems: funny thing is such people usually aren’t as smug in a real conversation, when the danger of being punched in the face for being a smartass exists.
