With the release of the Lotus 79 Formula One car out of the way, the next big thing comming to iRacing’s online racing simulation is the Corvette C6.R.
Now, a first render of the Corvette’s virtual version has been released. Making it’s debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2005, the C6.R was GM’s weapon of choice for GT1 class competition. The Corvette fought many battles agains the Aston Martin DBR9 and other GT1, clinching several Le Mans wins and championships.

Ain’t looking great?
This car just like every other iracing car is laser scanned so if you feel this car doesn’t look good then I guess you don’t find the real car to look good.

The shape looks good, thanks to the laser but the textures look sort of like a WIP. But that’s just what it is, a WIP. :) I am curious if it will come in GT1 form only or will it also model the new GT2 car. That would be cool to get both.

It’s a poor render of what will undoubtedly be a fantastic car that looks and – hopefully for iRacing members – feels very realistic.

According to what IRacing mentioned in the announcements, only the GT1 version will be created this time around.
And hell yeah, better textures on the car would be nice, specially now when they have separate settings for replays. But I guess that it’s more complex to make the game look nice and run smooth, than it seems to be.
BTW, they did release the Jetta TDI.

It’s the GT1 spec car. It would be hard to make the GT2 car from this since it is almost completely different.
