The fourth season of iRacing competition has just started and now, there`s additional motivation to compete in one of the 20 race or time-trial championships as iRacing will be rewarding successful drivers, giving out a total of four-thousand iRacing dollars prize-money.
The money can be spent on additional content or to extend the iRacing subscription, 400 prizes will be awarded at the end of the season. Winners, runners up and third-place finishers in each of the ten divisions for each of the five oval and road-racing series will receive prizes, as will each divisional time-trial winner in each championship.
First place race awards are $15.00, second $10.00 and third $5.00. Time-trial champions will receive $10.00. Even though no “real” money is given out, this system is another step in the direction of bringing online racing closer to real life motorsports – It might take a longer while until the prize-money figures hit NASCAR-level though.

Wow… Not!
Sorry for this flame, but iRacing is not a simulator for me. It’s like WoW. Everybody’s paying and playing, but there is no obvious reason. :???:

What reason is there to play any other sim then? lol
As much as I am into iRacing and I am happy they are already beginning to give out rewards… the point system is way too flawed to take seriously. If the winners got real money I wouldn’t be too happy that I don’t have a chance simply because I can’t always race at just the right times.
If you are competing for a position near the top of the points, the way it is now, one race full of guys with a rating way below yours basically takes away your chance for doing well that week. There is nothing you can do to beat someone who was lucky and got to race with a large amount of fast guys.

When they announced iRacing and i read reviews and forum posts i have to admit i was very negative about it. But now i am a member since August, and i have to say its THE sim for me. The physics are top. The races are almost Wreck free , and its the most serious sim community i came across. For me iRacing is the NR1 sim at the moment. admitted its expencive, but its worth every cent. the quality of the sim and service are supreme. Dont look at iRacing as a sim , but more as a sim system. The championship rewards are not crucial , but give it that little more.
PS: i have a distinct feeling , Montoya is racing iRacing too :-)

I might try it someday, I´m no big fan of racing online though.
Plus, I enjoy the modding-aspect of sim racing a lot – Something that can’t be found in iRacing.
The Riley and the C6.R might convince me though….

It is nice to hear people that are iRacing members be honest about it’s downfalls such like Crazy Bored just did. It is also nice to see non-members be opened minded about it such as Montoya. I personally have a sub but have very little free time and that free time is mostly spent practicing and working on setup for an rFactor league I am in. I am just paying the bill in hopes of getting some cars that are more exciting to me. It has some good tracks but I want to drive GT/Touring cars. The C6-R has me excited. I also can’t wait for some of the new tracks. PBIR, Road Atlanta and MoSport. I also wish they could let leagues rent time slots on the iRacing servers to do custom races.

I usually sound like I am trying to make iRacing look good, but I am simply stating the truth about it. So I will also point out the problems in the sim.

Because I own every sim that is currently out…that’s why. I have stopped playing pretty much every other sim, except GPL, since I got iRacing back in June.

The best part is people use how much it costs as an excuse to just bash every other part of it. It doesn’t make any sense really, especially because most don’t even have legitimate complaints.

am so sorry am not rich to pay for this great Sim!!! if only and at the end of it all what am i getting back from paying all this money. I will keep my lil cheezy money i have and buy myself a burger
PS. i believe the game itself is great hands down but if you would take a Calculator guys and add up in one year how much you would spend on tracks cars more tracks more cars then ask yourself this ( what is the point ) it’s not helping me to become a race driver or winning me money back from paying all this money

But that’s not the point…there is no other sim like this…and it is probably the closest I will get to a real race car for a long time (I’m 18…and don’t have the money to buy a real racecar, nor would my parents let me if I did)…So…I play iRacing.
So…just keep on digging yourself in your own hole.

I really have to give netkar pro 1.03 a proper chance before i consider paying for iracing. If everything works out, it’ll be a much cheaper option with physics on par, or even better than iracing
