Back in June, iRacing announced to add Brands Hatch and Oulton Park to their list of available tracks. The iRacing staff has been busy scanning Brands Hatch since, giving us the high-resolution scan image you can check out below.
Initially scheduled to be three days of work, track scanning extended to two weeks thanks to a breaking scanner and lots of typical British rain. Now that scanning is complete, the iRacing production team will take over creating the virtual version of the former British GP venue.
The 3,7 kilometer Brands Hatch circuited hosted 12 Formula One Grand Prix and is well known as a touring car venue these days, hosting both the WTCC & DTM.

It also hosts BTCC, the best touring car action on the planet.

I wonder how accurate/ innaccurate the non-laser scanned tracks will look in comparison to this one :).

My first time at iRacing’s Laguna Seca was like: “It’s almost the same track (I’ve driven in other sims), but quite different at the same time”

Indeed, I had the same feeling.

I CAN’T wait for Brands and Oulton, two of my favorite English circuits. Hell, I like Silverstone, but I would have taken Brands and Oulton in a heartbeat over Silverstone!
Glad all three are coming to the best damn sim available. I’m really eager to run the Jetta TDI Cup cars on Brands Indy.

Sounds like a really great combination. I will also be taking the Lotus 79 to Brands as Mario raced one there in the 1979 Race of Champions. It will be great fun.

Easy there! You don’t wanna start another flame war.
You’re right about one thing though, iRacing certainly is the most damned sim by quite a few.
When are those sound enhancements coming out?

why comment if you are just gonna be negative? No one cares that you foolishly hate iracing, it’s a fine sim and better than any other, maybe not in your price range, or not what you’re loking for, but don’t be a dick to just be a dick

Sweet, finally gonna get a brands hatch track that gets the elevations right!
. But honestly I do have some quirks with it like the unrealistic gearbox simulation and the lack of split times.
As for iracing being the best sim……I would hope so considering the amount of money im putting in compared to other sims

Roughly about the same time you put more than 30 minutes into iRacing before declaring it sucks. Sound like a deal?

Agree with you on the gearboxes. Hope those get fixed soon, preferably in the next update in three months.

Thanks, this will do for now :)
Hopefully the iracing devs integrate something like this themselves though because it doesnt look like you can use this inrace.

I have used it few months now and there hasn´t been any troubles so far in race. So I guess it´s just a warning, if something would happen.

I have also been using that iRacing HUD plugin for months during all sessions including races with no problems, the author Stephane Turpin has been great at updating it and supporting it in the iRacing forum.
I’d guess the iRacing folks will eventually get around to adding a builtin split display for this info (probably too busy working on other more important features) but for now it’s great that they made the raw data available to plugins and that Stephane has made such a great add-on available to us. I especially like how tweakable it is, I have it configured to not record the historic times from previous sessions (time file readonly), and only display the current session last lap, best lap and delta, which makes for a less cluttered screen with the key info I need to know how fast I am going during races without the F1 info screen (need the F3 screen during races)
