iRacing – Ruf RT-12 Available

iRacing has released the Ruf RT-12 sports car for their online racing simulation.

The German sports car comes in three different versions, featuring the 730hp road-going version, a track version as well as C-Spec race car that will be used in iRacing one-make series.

Founded by Alois Ruf in 1938, RUF is a German car manufacturer. The company is best known for building cars that are based on Porsche models, since RUF is building their own branded cars and is registered as manufacturer instead of being a mere tuner, game companies can license their cars separately from Porsche.

Best car in iR EVER ( best tire modell, best sounds ) …

    • fkkamil

And this is your conclusion after 1:29 minute preview?

      • Rhys Gardiner

        The car is actually released.

      • fkkamil

        Sure, I missed it. Sory:)

    • Realkman666

      I want to believe.

  • Timpie

That’s what you get when you start making up specs :p.

      …ops sorry, wrong thread. :p

      • Timpie

I’m sure they did look at AC and saw it was good, so they also started to make a car with rubber tires that bite on the track instead of float above it :p But since they don’t have any data to build the car off since it technically doesn’t exist, apart from companies that don’t work with anyone else but EA, they might have overdone it.

Yeah infact! In realty the New Newtiremodelversion5 is just a gluetiremodel, because this is the only solution for the icedriving lol :D

      • Realkman666

Why wouldn’t they get data from RUF? They’re not tied to the Porsche agreements.

      • Anonymous

Because there is no official Ruf data for the “track” and “c-spec” versions, these are fictional.

      • Realkman666

        Oooooh.

      • Timpie

And not only data but things like sound, where did they get sound of a car that doesn’t exist? They couldn’t have recorded the real Porsches so they basically had to stick placeholders on there?
Anyway, I hope now the cat is out of the bag and they went over to not only releasing unfinished tracks but also unfinished (and fictional cars) they’ll finally start making some historic tracks. They (together with all the ir elitist) have no excuse anymore for not building them.

If I had to guess, they probably just recorded the same engine after removing the turbo and muffler.

    • Roger Wallentin

At least it looked realistic once it was rolling :)

  • Marcel

I want it for Assetto Corsa :)

  • Lasse Jakobi Ougaard

There’s one thing I don’t understand – why does the “cup” version have streetcar interior?? How hard would it have been for them to make a stripped version, with a MoTeC and a proper wheel in it? Licensing?

    Confused.. :S

  • SuperSportBilly

I would imagine releases like this REALLY annoy Porsche. Wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t an agreement between Porsche & Ruf in the future preventing such licensing. In the meantime we basically get a Porsche in our sims. BTW looks superb – Porsches err I mean Rufs just look so right.

    • Anonymous

Personally I don’t think it would annoy Porsche at all, but it would probably annoy EA who have the exclusive Porsche license.

    • MatzeLoCal

I don’t think that Porsche can anything do about it as RUF is a independet manufacturer. Even if the car looks like a Porsche … the papers say RUF :)
It’s the same with BMW and Alpina.. or Mercedes and Barbus.

  • Me

First time for me that iRacing doesn’t feel like “ice-racing”. A welcome change…I like it.
(Minus the weird roll-over stuff…maybe a little too much grip?!)

    • Me

OK, disregard everything I said above for the higher horsepowered version….that car isn’t as fun to drive as the C-Spec version. That car is still “ice-racing”…might be the 730 bhp!

        …and street tires ;)

    • Anonymous

The solstice had a roll over problem as well, caused by the tires not losing enough grip at extreme camber angles. They fixed it pretty quickly.

Awesome cars, absolutely loving them. It’s going to be great Christmas holiday – iRacing, AC and GSC2013…

  • Roger Wallentin

I really really like these cars!! The visuals are nice, physics good and sounds are awesome!
