iRacing.com has released a new version of their online motorsports simulator, just in time for the 4th season in 2008. The update includes plenty of changes, most notably the introduction of the Chevy Silverrado known from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Furthermore, a few new features have been introduced. The simulation is now supporting engine damage & failures, which can be caused by over-revving or early downshifting. Furthermore, the simulation now features full course cautions on oval racing tracks, bringing a very important aspect of oval racing to iRacing.
Along with the Silverrado, the Phoenix International Raceway makes its way into the sim, adding another important NASCAR venue to the impressive list of tracks. The video below shows the Chevy Silverrado around the 1 mile oval in Arizona.

I don’t want to turn into an iRacing basher, but it is staggering that a premium racing sim didn’t have basics such as engine damage and pitstops, let alone stuff like weather.
Perhaps it should make us more understanding that sims which sell for a much more modest price don’t always have all the features we would like.

Lol, I am surprised it wasn’t mentioned. Also how the cautions work like NASCAR, lapped cars pit on the lap after lead lap cars, double file restart with more than 10 to go, etc.

Expected the Yellows to be NASCAR based. This is clearly trying to be a NASCAR Sim, without a license. Most of the tracks already, got a truck in-game, and the COT announced.

Think about it..the owner of iRacing co-owns a Nascar team so big suprise there. However there is a F1 ‘79 car coming, Daytona Prototype Riley car coming, Spa-Francochamps track and other European tracks as well as a lot of road courses. iRacing was officially released a couple months ago you guys should relax a bit with the bashing.

You seriously think iRacing won’t get it to us eventually? They know what’s wanted because they probably want it themselves.
We get the truck now because it was started earlier than the other cars that are coming.
I think I would be happy with 50 oval cars and 1 Lotus 79 though (and Mosport and Spa, Mosport is coming for sure.)
