iRacing.com To Include Ruf RT12R

Two days ago, iRacing announced a new partnership with German car builder RUF and now, new details have been revealed.

The partnership will see the Ruf RT12R making its way into iRacing. Based on the Porsche 911 Turbo, the Ruf RT12R is powered by a 3.8 liter twin-turbo engine, putting out 730hp of power and nearly 700 lb/ft of torque.

Founded by Alois Ruf in 1938, RUF is a German car manufacturer. The company is best known for building cars that are based on Porsche models, since RUF is building their own branded cars and is registered as manufacturer instead of being a mere tuner, game companies can license their cars separately from Porsche.

iRacing expects the car to be available in the fall of 2012, the car has been slotted behind the Mclaren MP4-12C GT3 in iRacing’s development schedule.

    It will be an interesting car to have. Not my first choice but a nice contrast due to it essentially being a road car.

    I´d imagine braking distances to be quite long even though it´s RR and ceramic discs (or pads) on it.

    Not my first pick either, but I wouldn’t go with boring either for a 730HP with H-pattern gearbox and street tires.

    Not exactly a GT3 RSR but I guess it’ll do.I hope the iRacing version will be a race car version and not based 100% based on the RT 12 R.

    I’m surprised people haven’t gone nuts for this, People have been crying for a porsche for years on the iracing forums now they get one (rebadged essentially) people are like meh?! i don’t understand

    Oh, right. I’m pretty interested to see how it actually drives. People are split that it will either be the easiest or hardest car in the sim.
