Mult-Class / Multi-Car racing already happens in Week 13 or Fun Races like the Mixed Martial Arts with Daytona Prototypes, Radicals and Solstice together on the track.

iRacing said we may have multi-class/car racing for official races next build, so they could mix the V8′s with other cars or V8′s.

At first, yeah it will only be a Ford, but eventually they’ll have holden as well…..just like they’ll have all 4 Nascar makes

commodore: I think driving on Oran Park LiDAR will not be different from driving iRacing’s version. The difference is too small to feel it, you will probably only notice the different graphics :)

I think you will be surprised at the difference…iRacing doesn’t just scan the track surface, they scan the entire thing so it all fits together correctly and all objects are placed in the right spot.

orubasarot: More tin tops please, fun ones like old school ETCC, WTCC, DTM, Porsches, whatever. A hickmobile and a FWD diesel isn’t enough, I already told them this in a survey about why I didn’t renew.The tracks are great though, just a shame there’s nothing to drive.

It’ll be interesting to see how the rfactor lidar version compares with this version when iracing release it because its very good accuracy-wise.

My guess is the two versions will be pretty close. I think the iRacing scanners may be more accurate, but both are much much better than GPS, so they should both be excellent. My guess is the more major differences may be in the trackside details. Not sure how much there is at Oran Park though.

Dave Kaemmer told the story of driving Lime Rock in real life and the beta version at iRacing wasn’t quite right. He later figured out that the artists had gotten the tree canopy correct, but had just dropped the tree trunks under the canopy randomly. Since, he sometimes used the trunks for visual markers it wasn’t “right” under they matched up the tree trunks with the laser data.

I think the Lidar won’t have as much horizonatal data, because it’s from above. The iRacing crews scan the track and horizontally, so they can capture more trackside detail. How much the both to accurately postion though is a function of the artists attention to detail and time available for the process.
