iRacing.com – New Suzuka Previews

iRacing.com has released a batch of high-resolution previews, showing off the Suzuka International Racing Course in their online racing simulation.

The Japanese Grand Prix venue is due to join the simulation’s track portfolio as part of iRacing’s big summer update that is just around the corner. Also pictured is the Honda ARX01C LMP2 Le Mans Prototype that will join the simulation in the same batch of updates.

The shots also reveal some new graphical features that will be available in replay mode including depth of field as well as aperture and camera focus settings.

Located in Japan’s Mie prefecture, the 5.8 kilometer Suzuka circuit is one of the very few tracks to have a figure 8 layout. The F1 venue offers 17 challenging turns, including the famous high-speed 130R corner.

Note, DOF for replays, with aperature and focus settings, confirmed!

  • Undastir Pushin

    WOW, very spectacular looking!!

  • Meton Sanga

If we can have aperture, dof, focus, i wonder if we will be able to implement them into racing

  • Jonhny Cash

man I loved this preview!! had only iRacing day/night transition, dynamic weather, brake engine and transmission wear and a real damage engine head lights and very few other things I would be all over it!

  • stabiz

I like these suprises they throw in now and then, with the depth of field this time. last time it was like three days before the build :”Oh, btw, here is Sebring at night.” :)

  • Meton Sanga

ummm, there is engine wear… trust me engines will blow somtimes without any over heating or over reving

  • DR.Joint

    and there are headlights aswell

  • sajax89

Am I in an alternative universe?
An iRacing post with no iRacing bashing…

  • Jonhny Cash

    can you flash them? ;)

  • F1Racer

    Ssshhh!!  You’ll set them off!.

My subscription needs renewal but everytime I do, I use iRacing for a while then stop because Im too much on rFactor and the others.   I don’t do too much multiplayer.   So it’s not a reflection on iRacing, just how I spend my sim-racing time.
But…Suzuka is one of my mostest bestest favouritest tracks and so once their tyre model encompasses the cars Ive bought too I will very likely renew once again.

  • F1Racer

you still talking about the headlights ?

  • phil23

Stunning 8-) . I’ll be waiting for the tire model to be on all cars b4 I re-subscribe though!!

  • Bakkster

They said no, at least for now. The problem with depth of field is it only makes sense if it’s a camera with a fixed focus/aperature, since while driving the game can’t know where your eyes are actually focusing. That was always my problem with Shift 2′s helmet cam, it always had the gauges blurred out, even when I was glancing down at them.

  • MrAndrew_P

+1. DOF isn’t needed when driving at all.

  • mykem

Shallow depth of field- use quite extensively by SHIFT or a lot of console racers (with the exception of Gran Tursimo and Forza)- is a way to get around the lack of CPU/GPU power.  If you have to render objects that are in the background, less power is needed.

You need a good depth of field (meaning being able to see a good distance or in photography term aperture of 22 and above) in sim racing.  As in real life, it’s your eyes that should be the camera and not your monitor/display screen.  In addition, haze or any weather related fog etc. should not be a constant feature on a track and should only be there if the sim supports dynamic weather/time.

  • Bakkster

Yeah, having tried the tire model on the NW car, it’s certainly worth trying again. Might still not be for you, but it really isn’t the same car anymore.

  • Robert H.

Same here. Track looks great but must wait till its all done 2.0 style!

  • Silly(c)One

Yup, they finally made some serious progress in the gfx dept :)

About subscribing, I had a good surprise a few days/a week ago… I had received this promotional code to try “iRacing 2.0″. So I said, let’s see what this gives us, if it’s good enough, I’ll renew for 3 months so I’ll be able to check out august 2.0 release. Hehe, It wasn’t the Impala, but 3 months for the price of 1 :D

If the promotion is still valid, you can renew iRacing for 3 months at 12$… Cheaper than a night out or a restaurant… And you’ll be able to check out the official release in august with 2 more months to go…
    I’m just sayin’… ;)

  • EmptyBox

Not sure which I want more….

But, the best looking sim out there just upped the ante yet again. Tremendous texturing skill is ftw.

  • The Biff

the screenies are photoshopped.  All you fanboy morons are going to be so dissappointed when you find out you need a $5000 machine to get the gfx to look that good.  But then again the retards will always justify spending that kind of cash on crap!!

  • The Biff

Explain fanboy?  Or are you just spewing out what you read on cat hearder blog?  LMFAO;.  Grow a brain and maybe some day you’ll get your own thoughts!

  • The Biff

The head lights are horrible!!  Notice how they don’t move up and down with the cars suspension.  LOL.  TOTAL FAIL iRacing!!  Just like your Daytona 500 and other special events.  hahahahahaha  Complete and total fail!!!

  • The Biff

Take your hat off buddy.  It’s summer time and you’re cooking your puney brain.

  • Montoya

The screenshots are not photoshopped, everyone who has seen iRacing on a powerful PC knows it looks just like that.

    Stop spreading misinformation.

  • Meton Sanga

flagged once again for your nancesant trolling

  • Meton Sanga

montoya? i raise the question why has biff not been banned

  • Meton Sanga

biff 3 flags in one thread.. welll done. btw if you get the chance to read this the headlights do move up and down with the car… once again trolling misinformation

  • Meton Sanga
