iRacing.com has released the Ford Mustang FR500S, adding a new car for road racing enthusiasts to their online racing simulation. iRacing subscribers can now purchase the car for $11.95.
Powered by a 4.6l V8-engine putting out 325hp, the Ford Mustang FR500S is an assembly-line produced racing vehicle that is eligible in various series aimed at privateer drivers, including the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup which is sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association.
Furthermore, iRacing has opened their iRacing Driving School as a free service for all subscribers. Developed in co-operation with the famous Skip Barber Racing School, the Driving School consists of 16 instruction videos that will teach members a variety of fundamental driving skills including lessons on vehicle dynamics, braking, cornering and more. Some of the videos come with exercises to allow players to put the learned skill to use in the simulation right away.
And If you´re wondering if iRacing really does teach vital driving skills, iRacing member Wyatt Gooden won the VW Jetta TDI Cup race at Mid Ohio last weekend. The 21-year-old Gooden earned his seat in the series by competing in iRacing’s virtual version of the TDI Jetta Cup last year, outperforming over 1100 competitors.
