iRacing.com – Mid Ohio Reality Check Gallery

iRacing subscriber Sam Hazim has once again put together another of his famous reality check photo galleries,  this time pairing up real-life photos side by side with footage from iRacing’s recently-released Mid Ohio Sports Car Course.

Once again, Sam has gone great lengths to demonstrate the accuracy of iRacing’s tracks, making screenshots that match both the exact angle of the photos and most of the on-track activity.

Opened in 1962, the 3.8 kilometer Mid Ohio Sports Car Course has seen its share of sports car history, hosting notable Group C, Camel GT, Grand Am and American Le Mans Series races just to name a few. Even open wheelers are no strangers to the track as the CART championship and the IRL have hosted races at Mid-Ohio.

    Very neat, I would like to see a rFactor vs. iRacing Mid Ohio comparison. Using Virtua_LM’s add-on track of course.

    The video was a far better way to judge it, its more or less spot on. I am one of the few who never fell in love with Mid Ohio, I just dont like the layout. I do like iRacing though.

    Agreed. The video version is way better to compare, because of the way it transitions between the real photos and iRacing. It’s stunning how they fit together. Awesome work Sam! :-)

    i have to say that the graphics are really disappointing this time. especially the blurry grass textures take away a lot of immersion.

    I’d like to see this as well. We all know iRacing will be dead-on accurate compared to the real photos, but I want to see just how good Virtua_LM are.

    Come on iRacing – you’ve done the hard bit getting the track surface spot on, now do the easy bit and get the colours rights – give us green grass and less fog! Or at least the option for real colours – I know some actually like the washed out world currently on offer.
