iRacing.com – First Thompson Previews & Mid-Ohio Update

iRacing has released three previews of the Thompson International Speedway that will soon be added to their online racing simulation.

The previews show the track at a 20%-finished state as well as two scan-data images of the famous American short-track.

Opened in 1940, the 5/8th mile paved oval racetrack is located in Thompson, Conneticut. The track is known as the Indianapolis of the East and was the first asphalt-paved race track in the US. The track hosts a variety of smaller series, including the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

In related news, iRacing is making great progress with their version of Mid-Ohio too. Scanning on modelling work is already complete as the iRacing staff has started texturing the track, expect first preview shots in about a week’s time.

    Thompson is a fun short track, and Mid-Ohio is going to be killer! :grin:

    On the member forum iRacing staff said the release date for Mid-Ohio should be ‘Juneish’. :cool:
