iRacing.com – First Night Racing Spyshot Available

Aside from a constant stream of new cars and tracks, iRacing is also working on improving the core functionality of their online racing simulation.

After the introduction of multi-class racing, the next feature high on many subscribers’ wish list is night racing. To get people excited about the upcoming feature, iRacing has released a little sphyshot, showing us what iRacing in the darkness looks like.

On a more serious note (and to make the news posting a little more relevant), iRacing has also launched their iRacing TV channel, that covers everything that’s going on in iRacing on a monthly basis. The first episode is online now, you don’t have to be a subscriber to watch iRacing TV here.

I’m curious to see their engine wich is weak with shadows to reproduce night lighting.

    The nightracing will be “hardcoded”.
So for nightracing you get a extra version of the same track.
No dawn or dusk racing yet.

Yeah, it’s a shame that there is no transition. would be nice to have something similar to GT5

the interesting bit is they have modeled all of the light sources on the track. iracing seem to be very quite about what effect the night time will have on the physics.

Bring on live track technology. If the tire physics are sooo important, guess what the other half of the equation is? Tarmac, road, asphalt, cement, track or whatever you want to call it. There are more variances to this than even the tires. Witness the tire companies and race teams trying to deal with each tracks’ surfaces composition(s), temperatures, types, racing line(s), marbles, dust, sand, dirt, oil, moisture, etc. I’m rooting for ya iRacing! :sd:
