iRacing.com – First Cadillac Preview Video

iRacing.com has released a first official preview video of the Cadillac CTS-V, showing the car lapping at Daytona during the nighttime.

The car will be free for all iRacing subscribers and will be used in the Cadillac Cup that will kick off on May 1st.

The CTS-V is the racing version of Cadillac’s popular CTS model, it’s powered by a 520hp V8 engine and driven by veteran road racers Andy Pilgrim and Johnny O’Connell.

The car competes in the SCCA Pirelli World Challenge, a North America-based series for GTs & touring cars that races in support of both the Indycar Series and the American Le Mans Series.

I have to say that the sound from outside is spot on. I attended a race these cars won last year (previous model I suppose) and they were so loud that a bunch of dead people came by to complain about the noise.

    But the sound is identical.

Hey wait… That car doesn’t belong on a roval. Hehe.

Yeah, this is supposed to be the first car to use sound engine improvements. :)

Great Car! Looking forward to this, the best part is it’s free, Motegi should be out the same time so look forward to thrashing it round there!

To me its a small improvement over the old iRacing sounds. It still just sounds like a wav-file being played at different pitches, few of the sounds you actually hear on a racetrack are being represented. No echoes, no reverbe and no sense of a actual racecar ripping through the air, just like most of the sounds in iRacing, quite “un-dynamic”. I feel its a shame that the area of sound has still not gotten anywhere really since the glory days of Papyrus.

It would be in the rookie series? At least a substitute of the boring Mazdas…

The clip it’s beautiful, for a moment you think it’s real…

I’m really looking forward to driving this car :-). The only high powered car I have in iRacing is the Ford Falcon V8, so this is something I’ll hopefully appreciate.

Maybe in Class D (my bet).

Yeah, speed-wise it’s probably going to be closest to class-C, but it might be open to all classes for the first year while it’s sponsored by Cadillac. Will be interesting to see.

Been waiting for the sound updates for ages, I totally agree. Definitely need that reverb, more of the low frequencies, as well as backfires etc. Some have said they think they’ve heard a bit of reverb and/or pit noise. Supposed to be some other ambient sounds, too.

Looks like a really nice car and the developers seem to do a good job. Seems to be a great addition for the game.

not close yet to the pCARS lights  :D

  • Vette Man

Very nice this will be a free Rookie series.  Now Rookies can jump in with a more high powered car than the Mazda or Solstice.  Good move, IMO.

Glad you like it, will you be prompting Ian to match these type of physics, or are GFX and car lists still the priority.
