This is less than 50€ for a year: they’re definitely trying to make me come back. :D Would I have more time to dedicate to sim-racing, probably this would be the best occasion to subscribe again to iR, even if I don’t know hou many add-on tracks/cars I would buy.

£45. Damn that sure is tempting… If it wasn’t for the fact that I’m pretty skint this month with Christmas shopping I’d probably go for it.

That makes the monthly cost the same as a McDonalds in the UK. I know which gives me better value…

Sales have stuttered, so offer a relative bargain 12 months subscription. Tempts a fair few people, then sting everyone in 12 months time with a hefty subscription extension, in order for the users still use the product!

This is a huge deal, as you can earn $40 of that $75 back in credit if you end up racing in each of the four racing series.

Net effect is $35 for a years racing – that is very reasonable for what you get with iRacing.

New memberships have been strong since the price reduction and race participation has increased across all license levels so that simply isn’t true

yes, this iRacing bashing is getting old, and i’m not a iRacing fanboy. Never tried it.

Felipe, it’s a different business model than rFactor, LFS, GTR2 etc, but it’s the same basic way cable tv, cell phones and MMO’s work. You only get to use their service while you are paying a monthly fee. As soon as you stop paying a monthly fee, the phone stops working, so does the cable box or satellite antenna etc. Nothing new here.

It may be more money than you want to spend, which is a valid argument, but the business model isn’t anything revolutionary, just different from other sims. :-)

It’s more expensive than other sims no doubt, but if it has what you’re looking for then it’s worth it. Depends on the individual and what you are looking for. :-)

I guess this is just being evil. But does anyone complaining about the subscription play WoW or any other mmorpg?

Oh i was anti-iracing when it came out alright. As soon as i heard subscription i was all over it. The thing is though, it was 20$ and i thought “well, I won’t go out one day and save it just for the sake of testing out what’s new in my hobby’s domain”. So tried it back during the testing keys etc in summer ’08. Well, needless to say even as a “wip” then and still one now, but more completed, It kinda blew me away to be frank. And another thing that prompted me to register was the fact that a lot of the papyrus crew was there-a BIG plus. So i said to myself “one day I’ll come back”. A month or so ago i signed up again and don’t plan to leave for a while.

Now let’s get back to mmos. I’d rather pay a subscription for iracing than for any other proverbial products out of one’s anus simply because it’s not mindlessly running around with a bunch of pixels. As noted by others, it’s a sport. And in my humble opinion, it’s a near freebie trackday. Some say corporate, and from a 3rd person’s perspective-who’s never tried it- I guess it could look like that. But corporate a lot of times means well made, means that there’s a standard to satisfy everyone. Don’t buy music then, it’s corporate and commercial, don’t buy food, don’t buy fuel, don’t by computer’s for crying out loud. And well, since iRacing revolves around the people using it, at the same time it’s far from corporate. Respect does exist among people who haven’t even seen eachother before, because everyone’s are paying. It’s not a Gmotor-game public server where everyone is anonymous and hiding behind the chatbox. Don’t get me wrong, i love my Gmotor, and most of my racing is on Gmotor games. But the fact that i can do something a bit serious, that appeals to me because of the well made and provided data when i feel like it without signing up for a league, i like a lot. So i urge anyone who’s bashing a product, or any product-in this case iRacing-please just try it out. It’s not gonna strip you of your money in a second if you do. Anyone who’s ever tried GPL or NR2003 for example. Although i doubt a lot of fans of those sims are still outside the iRacing circle.

That said, It’s rather nice and kind of funny to have a discount by iRacing on a day like this.

Money is no fckin problem for me I come from Brazil a third world country where if you can afford something you can afford much more than most americans and europeans but if you can’t than you live in a favela and try your luck playing footbal or into MMA (which btw I love and am into the sport too)! BTW I got all sims that are out since 99 I don’t like Shift and can say it proudly your iRacing isn’t the best sim out there just check that rubbish Cov C6.R you guys got that’s full of assists! But still if the biz was different I would also add to my list of sims but it isn’t and I wont join it it won’t make a difference to iRacing and it won’t make a difference to my sim racing time.

I cannot recal anybody telling something bad about your country.
So you don’t have to defend it.
Many millions of people in brazil live at the same luxureous standard as most US & European people.
I visit your great country and it’s nice people every year for a long time.

Have been simracing since the mid 80′s, so i know all racing sims out there.
For me Iracing might be not the very best in every aspect.
But it’s a very good concept and system, it’s getting better every update.
I have some of the best ultra clean races there.
Also some of the most irritating accidents, but they where never intended from either side.
Nice thing with iRacing you can pickup a good race almost any time of the evening.

To the people that call iRacing critics idiots:
If people don’t like it or want to bash iRacing let them be.
Everybody is entitled to it’s opinion.
I myself was really sceptic, untill i started with it 3 months ago.
Just got $ 75,- offer to ensure another year of serious fun.

you have to have alot of money or mom and dad have a big bank account to keep paying for this game, i would like if the just did a pack update like add more then one car and track in that pack but i guess the would not make the money the want to. if you have the money to burn on this over price game then Burn it.

Unfortunatly, that idea makes too much sense for most people here.
