You can download GPS data of already run races and load them up into your sim and be in the race. Obviously not doing it in real time means you probably know the result before hand and its up to you to be there to change it. Thing is if you take a car out and the car behind has its GPS data to carry on, now has to manoeuvre around the car instead which detracts it from its pre-determined GPS route.
