Inside Look In The Official Le Mans Simulator – Video

In order to increase safety and awareness at the world’s biggest motor race, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, organizer of the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours, is mandating all Le Mans rookies to complete a one-day Le Mans simulator training before actually racing on the Circuit de la Sarthe.

The ACO’s rules are strict and make no exceptions for big names, every driver that has not raced at Le Mans within the past five years is considered a rookie, including former F1 driver and Le Mans competitor Mark Webber.

The Australian last raced at Le Mans in 1999 and recently completed his simulator training that consisted both of day & night & wet weather running as well training of various specific scenarios such as safety car periods.

Luckily, a camera team tagged along, giving us a few peeks at the impressive Le Mans simulator.

This is cool and a good idea if he helps avoid even one crash.

Indeed, especially with sports car racing being built around having non-professional drivers.

Anyone know what software is running behind the scenes? Word is iRacing was considered at one point, but not chosen because iRacing couldn’t commit to getting the track built by this year.

As it is a Cruden simulator It would be their version of Racer software.
