Indycar 2011 Mod for rFactor 2 Announced

Pagoda Mod Group has announced to be working on an Indycar 2011 mod for rFactor that will bring the next Indycar season to ISI’s upcoming simulation.

The team is in negotiations with Indycar to make the mod an officially-licensed product, real Indycar teams and drivers will be providing technical assistance for a maximum of realism.

Aside from all cars and drivers of the 2011 IZOD Indycar season, the mod will also include a scratch-made version of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the series’ marquee event – The Indy 500.

Below is a little sneak preview, stay tuned for more in this project!

Wow, what a great surprise! The model looks great, and a major official license for a mod would start a new chapter for the rFactor modding scene.

  • jimmy

An officially-licensed product? So this mod will be sold for money? Is there any co-operation with ISI?

  • M1ST4K3

Money involved ina friendly thing is never good…

Selling a MOD?? Hum… 10 euros? 100 people put 10 cents and one person buys it… and it’s all spread arround the web… Nah, Don’t think it’s gonna work… It would be a shame, I must say…

  • The Biff

I think official licensing is a great idea as well as long as what M1ST4K3 says can be prevented.

  • Pagoda MG

This will be a free mod, don’t you worry. The licensing is for cooperation to be able to provide a product that IndyCar can sign off on as a quality simulation for the rfactor 2 community

Sorry to throw cold water on this mod, but this is the final year of the current IndyCar equipment package. All new cars and engines will be used in 2012, which probably will end up being the release date of rFactor2.

So this mod probably will be cool, but it will be headed toward the realm of historics just one year after the season it depicts due to the drastic equipment change. New chassis with different aero kits and turbocharged engines are coming in 2012.

  • DeDios

For me is not a problem if will be “old” :D when i want to drive an F1 car for example i load CTDP 2006 mod :D

  • kiwi

some indiracing would be really nice for sure.

  • AmTGMan

*Makes mental note to track this mod…

And scrounge up the money for RF2*

  • Dan

If this gets officially licensed by Indycar, it will most definitely be passed through ISI, much like the 2007 BMW F1 car was made by CTDP.

  • Deano

I really don’t see why it should matter, the CART Factor is one of the best Indy car type mods and it’s “Old” stuff.

Not to mention a “Scratch built” version of Indy to boot.

  • Kevin Bean

Whose to say they won’t do a 2012 mod too, eh? Just a thought.

  • Cenotaph

I don’t see the official license happening. Indycar just made a deal with iRacing and they probably won’t want to go all out and just start sponsoring everything that is put in front of them.

  • Firefox

But none of the deals with iRacing are exclusive and I think that Indycar would like to see their car and series made for a sim that can be used by all types of simracers, from the 8 year old kid and his dad to the more serious league.

  • nick

hahaha…everybody is announcing for rF2 and rF2 is never going out :)

  • Firefox

    Says you?
Didn’t know ISI had a developer named nick :P

  • Riches

Once upon a time when, not too long ago, when simracers where polight and positive.
Now “our” scene get flooded by keyboard hero’s and all knowing nitwits.
Who themselfs add no content what so ever but only have demands.
Seems like taking down somebodies else hardwork is their hobby.

  • nofx

    lol

then rf2 is released with new ‘engine’ and this idiots will spent double of time to convert all this crap again :)

  • moppenheimer

And to add to what Firefox said, Indycar is in a rebuilding stage, and instead of putting out a commercial game that will sell poorly, a free mod to generate intrest in the series may be a move they’d like to make right now.

  • JGoenR

    This will be great!
