Indianapolis 500: Evolution – Previews

Simulations of historic racing series are pretty rare and even more uncommon on consoles, making the following game rather remarkable. Indianapolis 500: Evolution, developed by Brain in a Jar, will bring a glorious decade of Indianapolis racing to the Xbox 360, letting players join the 1961-1971 seasons of American open wheel racing.

Featuring legendary drivers such as A.J. Foyt and Mario Andretti, players can race on eight historic tracks, including both ovals like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and legendary road courses. Brain in a Jar promises to devlier a realistic driving simulation, the title will go on sale starting October 1st.

I don’t own a console but this looks very interesting. Strange we haven’t heard about it until now. Might make a great PC title with the right physics.

If this is the least bit sim, I don’t know what the Brain in a Jar devs are thinking. Something like this is what the PC crowd is after, not your average console owner. Yes, I do own a 360, but when I want my sim fix, the PC is obviously where it’s at.

what a stupid idea as we all know when it comes to console sim racing the PS3 is the console to go Ferari Challenge, GT5p and Supercar Challenge the later been better than most rFactor mods out there are and Logitech support!

Oh wait I forgot you can just port your PC game to the 360 and it’s done whereas with the PS3 you need more programming knowledge and better skills to get the job done BUT once it’s done its quality stuff yeah I know just forget quality stuff!

Lol look at the size of the bricks at the s/f line

While any historic racing game is to be welcomed, it looks rather low budget to me. The cockpit shot for example is rather uninspiring compared to GPL or GTL, and neither of these is state of the art.

Look up reviews for The Golden Age of Racing, a game they made about F1 in the sixties. Here’s a quote:

“So given the choice I would save even my £11.99 and instead of buying this title perhaps spend the money on poisoned tipped needles which I could forcibly insert into my genitals and enjoy it a great deal more than I ever would The Golden Age of Racing”

I like to be a positive person, but I wouldn’t expect too much. Everybody deserves a second (third, whatever) chance though, and I would be pleased if they pulled this off well. They seem to get good licenses anyways.
