HistorX – New Version Previews

After releasing their praised Historic GT & Touring Car Mod for rFactor, things have gotten a little quiet around HistorX during the past months.

The team is very much busy though, working on a second version of their mod. Unlike the first version, this version will include only completely scratch-made cars.

Below are some new previews, showing the Porsche 904, the Aston Martin DB4 Zagato and the Ferrari 250 GT + cockpit shot, modelled by lo^.

With PnG2.0 and HistorX 2.0 coming out, it’s gonna be a lot of switching back and forth from GTR2 to rFactor for me! These cars’ll be a welcome addition to our HGT&TC league though.

Tigeraid. What class are you running in your league? Our league was running TC-65 but with time we realized the V8s should have been in another class. People started migrating over to the Cortina. Now we are switching to the GTC-65 class and have banned a few cars that where obviously too fast for the class like the Daytona, TVR, Cobra and GT40. How is your league doing? Have you found a balanced car lineup?

I’m not a big fan of Ferrari, but the 250GTO is one of the most beautiful cars ever made.
I hope I can have fun with that car in this great mod. :sd:

It took us a whole season to figure it out, but we now have a balanced class setup.

We run our own: GTC, TC-1 and TC-2. Basically, GTC-76, GTC-65 and TC-65, but re-arranged. Rather than completely jumble the classes, we just removed the most dominant, and in some cases moved cars up in a class.

I determined the classes by testing on a “small” track and then a “big fast” track. I don’t have my complete results handy, but here’s the cars we run in each class, off the top of my head:

    TC-2:

Austin Mini 1310 (regular Mini too slow)
Coppa Mille Abarth (regular Abarth too slow)
    Alfa GTA
    Lotus Cortina

I would, tentively, include the Falcon here, if you’re racing on a good mix of high and low speed tracks, or if the guy driving is slightly lower skill level than the rest. The Alfa and Lotus are slightly quicker on the straights, the Mini and Abarth slightly better in the corners. So far this season the Mini has won two, the Cortina two, the Abarth one and the Alfa one.

    TC-1:

    Austin Healey
    Ferrari 275
    Porsche 911 S
    Lotus Elan

I also put the old TC-65 Mustang and the Lotus Elite in this class, but no one’s driven them. Again, the 275 clearly has a top speed advantage and runs significantly quicker than the rest at large tracks, but is cumbersome and has difficult at tight tracks. So far this season the 911 has won three, the Austin Healey has won two, and the 275 Ferrari has won once.

    GTC:

    Porsche 911 RSR 2.8
    Ferrari Daytona
    440hp ’74 Corvette
    BMW CSL Alpina
    Porsche 906

The Porsches run better on tight tracks, and the big Vettes and the Daytona are faster on top speed tracks. So far the wins have gone to the 911 and the Ferraris, but that’s due more to driving skills than even-ness.

There’s other cars that fall in these categories that weren’t run… the 427 goes in GTC, as does the “regular” RS 2.8 Porsche. All the other GTC-76 cars are “too fast.”

Competition has been very even all season so far.

That’s odd, we found the Mini 1310 to be WAY faster on the straits then the Alpha and Cortina. The Mini was much faster but suffered from a small tank. We run 45min races and the Mini’s would kill everyone up to the point where they have to pit. The V8′s are fast (even on slow tracks, with a good driver) but they eat tires and the and pace then drops well bellow the Cortina’s. I manage to win most of the races in the Cortina.

I am Noel Hibbard. I am sucking wind this Mini Season because I missed a race on vacation. The last race I had 2nd locked up and then blew my engine half way through the finial lap. :) It’s so nice to do qualy for an hour then race for almost and hour and then blow an engine on the final lap. lol

I dunno what to tell you… we take skill level into account, with the “faster” drivers running in slower cars. So that might be a factor.

Cooooooooooooool. My favourite mod is getting even better. Didn’t Lo make an Alfa too? Wonder if that’s included?

  • stabiz

Looking forward to driving all of them, especially the 250.

That GTO is being modified in many aspects. Lo^’s model wasn’t bad on those days, but we’re modifying every aspect of it: the external and internal model, all the textures (including the skin template, which have doubled its size to show more detail), etc. We’re sure he’s going to be very proud of the car he created, as it’s going to have a similar quality to Simbin’s cars :)

And yes, Lo^ also created an Alfa Romeo.

The fact that we’re aren’t showing more stuff doesn’t mean we’re not working on it ;)

    Have a nice Xmas.

ps. All the models of these pics are just WIP (some on an early stage than others), and don’t represent the final quality they’re going to have ;)
