The historic GT & Touring Car mod is certainly one of the most awaited mods for rFactor. Based on Simbin’s GTL, the HistoriX team has been creating an impressive field of over 100 historic racing cars.
Rantam, the team’s leader, has now revealed that the 1.0 version of the mod will be released in Q2 2008. Currently, the team is testing all sorts of things as well as adding low-resolution skins for people with a littler slower PCs. They also hinted to use an all new system for night racing never be used before in rFactor for better performance.
Version 1.0 is only the start of things for HistoriX, later versions with more scratch-made models are already in the works. Below is the newest screenshot that has been released by the team.

What about the legal issues with using SimBin’s IP? I remember something about requiring the GTL disk (eek, StarForce….) but that still seems like something SimBin would have an issue with. Any more info, Montoya?

Yes, the mod will require the original GTL disc to install, the makers do that to pay their respect to Simbin and their work.
On the legal issues, the team has been open about the Simbin conrent from the start and the mod is in developement for many months now. Since it’s even discussed at RSC, one would think that Simbin would have done something already if they would object.
