Historic GT & Touring Car 2.0 – Maserati Tipo 61 Revealed

Six days ago, Team HistorX showed us a first shot of a mysterious new race car to join their Historic GT & Touring Car 2.0 mod for rFactor, inviting everyone to guess what car it is.

Now, the team has revealed the solution and released two proper previews of the Maserati Tipo 61.

Also called Birdcage because of its tube-framed chassis that was welded together with over 200 tubes, the Tipo 61 was built between 1959 and 1961. Powered by a 2.9 liter four cylinder engine putting out 250hp, the Tipo 61 was entered in most major sports car racing events of its time, scoring back to back wins at the Nürburgring 1000km race in 1960 and 1961.

Using GT Legends as a base, the Historic GT & Touring Car mod for rFactor proved to be one of the most popular releases for the simulation. The second version of the mod will be bringing many popular racing cars from the past to rFactor, including the Ferrari 330, the Porsche 904, the Aston Martin DB4 and many others.
