Historic GT & Touring Car 2.0 – Mercedes 300 SLR Previews

Team HistorX has revealed the newest scratch-made model for their upcoming Historic GT & Touring Car 2.0 mod for rFactor, showing us first previews of the Mercedes Benz 300 SLR Coupe.

Based on the Mercedes Benz 300SLR that dominated sports car racing in 1955, the coupe version was designed by Rudolf Ulenhaut, Mercedes Benz’ head of competition department who used the car for his daily work commute. Two examples of the 300 SLR Coupe were build and Mercedes planned to enter it in sports car racing competition, the 1955 Le Mans tragedy ended the car’s competition career before it even started though.

Using GT Legends as a base, the Historic GT & Touring Car mod for rFactor proved to be one of the most popular releases for the simulation. The second version of the mod will be bringing many popular racing cars from the past to rFactor, including the Ferrari 330, the Porsche 904, the Aston Martin DB4 and many others.

Do you guys intend on creating the Mille Miglia version as well? Was hoping to see cars of this particular time being modded, the older the better. :)

Do you guys intend on creating the no roof version as well? The one Rob speaks of, about the accident. Though, it raced succesfully at Targa and Mille Miglia, would go well with the upcoming GPL track. :)

Well done, as always. Can’t wait for the whole HGTTC 2.0. Thanks folks!

Do you mean the same Targa Florio track being converted to rF and which we’re helping to test with our internal v2.0? Yes, it would be nice to have the racing version of the SLR which raced there. And also the one with the airbrake which crashed at Le Mans that year either…

Sadly, we can only comments about already introduced cars :)
