Petrs73 and jraid have released a new version of their GTR2 for GTR Evolution mod, bringing all cars from GTR2 to Simbin’s newest PC simulation title.
The mod combines the previously released GT and NGT mods to one all-inclusive package. The cars come with their original GTR2 physics and thus are not balanced to match any of GTR Evolution’s three GT classes. Furthermore, all cars have been equipped with working windscreen wipers.
Important: Please make sure to delete all earlier versions of GTR2GT and GTR2NGT if you have them installed!
Features:
- direct conversion to GTR Evolution
- original GTR2 physics
- all cars GT, NGT and 24H in one package
- FULL working wipers
- offline and online stability
- FP driver hands in cockpit (original GTR2)
- full working MoTeCs, some improvements …
- reworked ClassID and ModelID structure – more space for new cars and MODs
- moved car configurations to CAR files for easy change physics
- reworked windows, now can see windows from inside car
- new folder structure
- icons for running in Race07 included

it that not a difference with car/track texture? because GTR2 looks nicer than Race07.

Its a good idea this mod, but wipers that look like their swiping at flies and missing the screen totally, no disc glow and no Evo physics dont do this mod well.

re: Gopher04
I have not tried this yet but on the physics side, the point of this is to have the original GTR2 physics as a lot of people do not like the physics / feel of the GT cars in Evo. This way you have both options available, the Evo GT cars and the original GTR2 cars. As to the other points you mentioned I hope that they will be updated on the next version, let Petrs73 and jraid know what bugs you are seeing.

Well, I really appreciate the work of the modders, but mods like these are the reason why SimBin started to sue a lot of the big european online leagues..

Not true, actually Simbin officially annonunced that they would accept converts from their older titles to the newer ones.. it’s the MODs that steal stuff from one developers platform to the next which is’nt cool.

Looks good and tests very well. I did find that for some reason the graphics RAM load is apparently a bit higher than either GTRE or GTR2. Offline non-private testing at the full version of Paris now gives me occasional long pauses along with “graphics memory overload” messages. I’ve not seen this with any of the GTRE/Race07 series yet (but it could be a different cause, of course). The testing was being run with the 2004 Lotus Elise, and it works just fine with other tracks tested, including “Paris Light”.
Thank you for a great conversion!

Does anyone know if this will work with the “Steam” versions of Race07 and GTRE ?
Also, this won’t overwrite any of the current cars or physics to the Race07/GTRE cars .. it just adds the GTR2 cars along with their associated physics ?
Thanks!

Works for me with the Steam versions. And I’m pretty sure it doesn’t replace anything, because it creates new series where all of the new stuff is.

physics from GTR2?
so the GTR2 cars go faster around a track then the evo cars or visa versa?

Just once, just once I’d like to see a mod released that doesn’t need a bloody patch the instant it’s released… *sigh*
Hope this is actually good.

ral42 .. how do you install this for the Steam version ? I can’t find the folders UIData or GameData for the Steam version … everything seems to be in a compressed file ? Sorry for posting here but I didn’t see a forums link.
Thanks! James

Safest way: Run the .exe file, which is a 7z executable, and set the output to a convenient holding folder, like C:\ModTemp or something. It does not have to be an existing folder.
Then locate your GTR Evo or Race 07 folder under C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\{your steam id}\{Race07 or GTREvo or whatever}. This is the part you should not screw up: now just copy the UIData and GameData folders from your holding folder into the game folder.
Enjoy!!!

Thanks DRat .. that worked! I was concerned because the UIData folder existed but only one file was in there .. now all is good :)

First off all, VirtualR fully complies with Simbin’s community guidelines which include permission of forward conversions.
That means that modders are allowed to port content from older Simbin titles to newer versions such as GTR Evolution. As such, the mod is fully legal and that’s the reason it has been posted here.
Furthermore, Simbin never sued any leagues so whereever you heard/read that was completely wrong.

Hi I’ve tried to download GTR2 to coincide with my GTREvo game, to no avail. Where do I extract the files to? What path?
I appreciate any help!
