Once again, Takfarinas of Live-Simracing.com has been kind enough to provide us with some exclusive GTR Evolution preview material. After yesterday’s screenshots, this time we get to see a video as Takfarinas takes the Saleen S7R around the Nürburgring GP circuit.
Furthermore, we get a sneak-peak at the game’s menu screens. Regardless if you like the menu style or not, one has to admit that the amount of series in the selection screen looks mighty impressive.

The animations of the driver look decent,but the graphics look very unpolished and very close to GRT2 which came out years ago. I wish we could get Race Pro on the PC instead of this junk.

Why is this being developed again? You have concurrent development of this and Race Pro for the 360… why didn’t they develop a lizard based game for the PC instead of this?
I know that driver too… I can tell by his signature gloves.. Mickey Mouse!!

What we see here is: Color over-saturation(cartoonish as above)Bad field of view, and the driver animations and arm modeling have actually downgraded!Where’s the GTR2 color filter?… I’m sorry to say this but, my respect for simbin is rapidly dropping…It’s been a long way since the F12002 GTR mod etc and unfortunately it doesn’t look good. This is just a money making title. Meaning that by securing fans for the rest of the simbin series they’ve just released something new to snatch some extra bucks…Very unprofessional. I apologize for my harsh criticism, but simbin… you’re one vote less, even if it’s an insignificant vote…

I agree with MrcL, are simbin turning into EA? Race 06 was a step sideways from GTR2, never bothered with Race07 as it was the same as 06. A new nordschleife will be nice but not for £30+ for the full game. whats with those gloves & I thought they couldn’t make the ISI engine look any more cartoonish!

Nodony seems to remember that who did GTR2 are not the actual SimBin…!
Graphic is what we got used during these years, no surprises: we’ll have to wait for a new engine in order to see something different.

Yeah Jigga, and no doubt when Blimey bring their sim out people will be slagging that off too.
Its what the sim community does, bite the very hands that feed it. Problem is there are too few hands that are feeding us these days and we still find ways to complain about every little thing.
Some say its the physics that matter most and apparently others think the drivers gloves do.
Is there any sim we can look at where it hasn’t been slagged off and we wonder what still motivates people and companies to continue ?
We will be our own downfall with all this pettiness. Watch this space. Get your console money out.

Yes we all must buy this half arsed filler coz no one will make a sim ever again, & anyone who has an opinion thats not the same as mine is a petty slagger of the god like figure that is a game company, n we shall all blame those slaggers when the game company continue to slog the dead horse instead of making something ground braking. Its not because sims have never sold much n arcade/sim lite yearly updates have made some very rich suits even richer, ITS ALL YOUR FAULT, SIMMERS FOR BEING SO DAMN PICKY!!!

I agree with F1Racer.
Everyone is slagging off this game from some poor screenshots and a youtube video. I do wonder why Simbin bother with the community at all They have listened to the updates and suggestions for RACE and Race07 is by far the best feeling ISI based Sim. Sure its not overpowered GT cars by small touring cars but it makes for close racing.
This isn’t GTR3 and anyone who expected such was/is deluded. This looks like it will be good. People complain and complain about colours but if its based on Race07 it’ll be easily editable. Changing track textures won’t be such a huge mountain to climb.
Look at rFactor when it was released and what it is now. GP4. NR2003. GTR2. This sims [well GP4 isn't really a sim its physics are nonexistant] last because of the community and i expect much the same for this.
Whatsmore it’ll take what? 2 weeks for all the content to be in rFactor and GTR2 anyway so people can “believe” its more realistic in those sims rather than its original form :!:

But do you think that ranting off in here about picky little things is going to change the attitudes of the commercial sim makers ? Its not.
The only thing that might do that is sales. If its crap you don’t buy it.
But then of course that could mean it will put off the company from making any more because the last one didn’t sell.
Im not saying we should just praise them and buy it anyway either.
Of course people should sound off if they want to. But I think a lot of people have a quick trigger finger so to speak and are very quick to judge and its all so easy to jump in with a negative criticism - especially about something petty.
Here we sit judging screenshots and half ass videos. Thats not the game. I`d prefer to reserve my judgement on the demo, unless from the video it clearly looks bad and then I might point something out, but try and put something positive in there too.
Of course we all want the best we can get, rFactor with Crysis environment engine and the AI from F.E.A.R. (no arguments here ok, FEAR’s AI is the best out there bar none :) )
But with consoles about (which is where the money really is), its gonna take time.
Our future seems to lie in rFactor 2.
Blimeys! Ferrari Project I discount because its just Ferrari’s although Im sure its going to be one helluva racer.
Yeah GTR Evo is a bit of a rehash, but hopefully something fresh is around the corner and its not as if theres any other major race series’ to cover thats actually has a chance of selling.
F1, GTs and WTCC might be the only markets out there.
Re-hashing stuff for the PC so that console makers get a first time look is what this is all about I think so lets see what Simbin give us next in line.
One thing for sure, the code will be compromised as its bound to be heading for the consoles too.
Only rFactor2 can save us now……

The thing is tho, we’re not judging it only on screenies n vids, they look no different from gtr2 (apart from the mickey mouse hands!!!) Its the fact that its an old engine that Simbin to there credit, thrashed the hell out of it to produce GTR2 but it cant be taken any further. It has nothing new to add to Simming, there for I feel they should have put there full time into Lizard and all the loverlyness it will produce.
The real worry I have for Simbin is they are a sim developer not an arcade developer, that market is saturated with games that are all taking a little bit of the pie, Simbin will be swallowed by the pie!
If simmers dont like what they make they will sink, the next PC game from them will need to be special otherwise…

Sam, yeah dont get me wrong I totally agree with you.
Although now you have me picturing Mickey Mouse driving a car and the distributor for the sim is Disney :) But that sounds a bit too Goofy.
Im not too convinced about your last line though. Scarey as it might sound, Simbin might not even need us simmers any more if it came to the crunch.
Im sure as you say they could be part of the pie (not sure how a pie can swallow but I get your meaning :) ) and produce just for the money making console market.
I know we wouldnt want to lose them to that and I hope we dont. It probably wont happen. We know where Simbins roots are and I hope they remember that too.
).. if Im going to level some criticism at the sim makers I`d try a more diplomatic aproach as opposed to the ‘this sucks, thats crap’ approach. Cos I know if I was a sim maker how much I`d take of that before started to wonder if its worth the effort.
But us simmers do need to cling on to any and all company or modder that is prepared to nourish our appetites for what is a small piece of a niche market.
From that point of view Im grateful for anything.
I dont think GTR Evolution will be a rip-off or anything. Im sure it will be worth buying.
I think Im saying if we have to make voices heard, let it be for something worthwhile and not just petty stuff or for criticising for the sake of it (like because you didnt like Simbins last title so now you’ve disowned them - you know that crowd).
