Com8 has started reworking the Nürburgring Nordschleife in GTR Evolution. Based on the original Simbin version, his 2009 version will contain many changes such as new textures, the removal of all fictional advertisement boards and lots of trackside objects.
Below are first previews of the VLN version, showing some of the new trackside objects such as new fences, fans, cars, banners, flags, guardrails and more. Also included will be the realistic pit-entrance, allowing drivers to get straight into the pits coming off the Nordschleife.

The Floptickle is confused.
Is it an update based on the Simbin track or what?

I always thought the Nordshleife by SimBin needed more detail and I didn’t like the fictional advertisements. Good work Com8.

what this track is needs is shadows, that’s part of what makes it so tough to drive…

Woow, looking very good.
But I agree, what it really needs is shadows.

The Simbin version of the ring is absolutely terrible compared to the 2.2. I just couldn’t get over how sad it was when I first saw it. I was expecting so much more.

It looks better, but from what I can tell, too smooth, and obviously no shadows on track (atm!) But I do understand that it’s far more accurate in every other area.

If you have the skills (I haven’t), I suggest to create pre-rendered shadows. You can have different pre-rendered shadow .gmt for practice, qualy and race by taking advantage of VisGroups(). That should look amazing.

yepp, experimenting with pre-rendered as well as shadow objects, we’ll see what looks better…
