Takfarinas of Live-Simracing.com has brought us another preview video of Simbin’s GTR Evolution title to enjoy.
This time, we ride around Brno in the Aston Martin DBR9, a good chance to compare it to the WGTS Aston Martin video I posted earlier today. What cockpit looks better? Which sound do you prefer? You decide!

Graphics:
This cockpit is so much lighter than the WSGT one. I think its a bit too light, but the WSGT one is definitely too dark. Somewhere in the middle would be ideal. I hope WSGT changes the color of the roll cage, because the bright grey bars really don’t go well with the dark interior. Visibility both ahead and to the left is better in the GTR-E version.
Sounds:
First, I don’t think either sound comes very close to the distinct sound of the DBR9. The GTR-E sounds are just… boring. The howl from the WSGT version is much nicer (I understand its the 550 sounds?), but still not quite high pitched enough. However, upshifts in the GTR-E version are exponentially better. The sound of the 550/WSGT upshift is just terrible. I do sort of like how the GTR-E sounds are layered, there’s two distinct engine notes. However, neither of them seem high pitched enough for the V12 in the DBR9.

The sounds do sound a bit…tame, compared to the real thing. Still I think it’s a decent representation. The gear shift sounds seem to be good as well. I thought RACE07 was pretty good step up from Simbin in terms of sound.
As for the graphics – the cockpit lighting in GTR2 just seems to be much nicer than in RACE07. Even RACE07 content ported to GTR2 (e.g. the WTCC mod) looks much, much better in GTR2 than it does in the game it was originally created for. So ideally I’d like to see the Simbin DBR9 model in GTR2’s lighting engine, which I suppose is inevitable really…

I agree the tire sounds is not good in this video. Though, I would hope ecah person can adjust to his liking.
The grapics are nice in this mod, but not much different than the WSGT mod for GTR2. If I were the Simbin team I would be embarssed…. LOL! Or I would recommend hiring the WSGT team!

in Race07 it is fairly easy to change the volume of the tyre scrub sound, so I guess it will be easy in Evo.
Cockpit; I say a little bit better then WSGT
SOunds; I also say better then WSGT, sure the engine sounds isn’t real, it’s like said here; tame in both games. But with the gear change sounds Evo has convinced me.
And also after seeing this video, I got my convidence back in the game, because after seeing the Nord. film, I thought it would be like a hovercraft, but in this video it’s much better.
Great driving and video Takfarinas

Vimeo’s lame. I think GameVee.com was pretty much made for this kind of thing though
