GT5 Prologue – Pre-Release Frenzy

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will hit the European shelves in less than 48 hours and it looks like as it will be the first major success for Sony and the Playstation 3. Even though Prologue offers only a taste of what the full Gran Turismo 5 will bring, the Gran Turismo community is eager to get the new game.

Play.com, one of the UK’s biggest games online-store, has completely sold out on GT5 Prologue copies. Gamers don’t have to be afraid to be left out though as GT5 Prologue will also be available as PSN download.

Meanwhile, Sony has given out some information on when we can expect the “true” Gran Turismo 5 to hit the shelves. The following message appeared the Sony PlayStation blog, keep in mind that the statement probably refers to the Japanese release of the game. It will take additional months for the game to appear in Europe and the US.

Also, to further clarify, GT5 is still about a year away. You should just decide now to buy it, enjoy it, go online and race against anyone and everyone, rank number one worldwide, get the girl (or guy) and become the most popular kid in town.

Not that it would be needed, but here is additional promo material to fuel the GT5 Prologue hype. The video has an interview with GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi and shows the Ferrari F2007 racing on the Daytona International Speedway.

This doesn’t seem to be a problem of the big demand. Apparently there were too little copies shipped. Every major retailer has this problem.

Actually the game can be bought in french stores since the 26th and I doubt it’s an european exception because I know people in Finland who have received their DVD that very same day.

My shop (which is a rather big one in Germany) got just a small delivery. They’re expecting the next delivery in April.

I thought of buying the PS3 bundle with GT5P which should be out tomorrow. But it’s rather expensive with 429 EUR. Also I’ve read some posts that GT5P isn’t that spectacular in graphics as the replay pictures made us believe. The tracks obviously doesn’t look that nice and there is a lot of flickering going on.

Also no damage model and the AI seems to be pretty lousy again.

On the one side I want to play and see it for myself (last build I played was on the IAA) on the other side these points make me insecure.
