GRID 2 – Five New Previews

Codemasters have released five new previews of their GRID 2 title that was first announced a month ago.

The announcement was overshadowed by the controversy around Codemasters’ decision to not include cockpit view in the new title as according to their statistics, only 5% of GRID players were using cockpit view in the first title.

Despite the missing cockpit view, the title still seems to hit a soft spot with many sim racers as a large amount of users still seems to be looking forward to the title.

GRID 2 will be released for the PC and gaming consoles in summer 2013. Unlike other multi-platform titles from Codemasters, GRID 2 won’ just be ported to the PC but will come as a dedicated PC version with more impressive graphics.

Is it me or doesn’t this really look that good? Looks like the same bland, brown, overexposed nonsense present in every arcade title these days.

Not, it’s not only you, i also ask me why those all new titles has that glow redish dominant.

    Post-processing FTW!!
No sorry, not today. These screens look seriously over the top.

No cockpit view = no purchase for me.

Is it me or does this looks almost exactly like the first game but with some really weird, alien-like colours?

These aren’t even real in game shots, mucho photoshop in best Codemasters tradition. No Aliasing and lots of non realtime motion/blur.

Instagram hipstermania is the reason, everyone think it’s cool add filters to pictures, which it’s not.

Its not beyond them to neutralise the colour palette to something more natural looking with the ego engine…..they finally sorted to something like for F1 2011-12. Lets hope they go the same route for this – it needs it.

Dont really mind the pictures itself. Anyone can tell these are not true in game shots, and if they are they added more filters than any instagram user would do. However seeing the cars makes me excited, the car list seems to be looking good here.

Need for Speed GRID 2. No thx.

    Seems Flatout with real cars.

same here, and surely they must understand their reasoning is flawed. Isn’t it based on online gamers? How would they know what view offline players used? And without cockpit it does not promote arcade racer’s to become sim racers. My mate has only just settled on cockpit view in shift2, still trying to get him to shell out for Race07 and try some actual race’s, but he is still stuck in arcade land and the thought of long race’s and pitstops bore’s him apparently.

haha, sorry but not a title for simracers. lol

Meh, dont care. No cockpit view, no buy. I dont understand the appeal of racing without a cockpit view. Bumper cam is nothing more than moving a camera around a track really fast. No immersion. Same with behind car views. Even in arcade racers I find it weird not to be in cockpit. Seeing the steering wheel move helps me orient things better.

Grid’s physics were a decent mix of realism and fun. I actually think Dirt/Grids physics would be fantastic in a game like GTA for example.

Put your money on something else that offers an E30 to drive, preferably with a cockpit/interior view, lol.

    duh….who said it was? (lol)

Said it before and I’ll say it again. No cockpit = no Grid 2. Then again if they’re trying to appeal to the no-cockpit crowd I won’t be missing much.

Toca and GRID was mainly about racing on circuits and this? This looks like NFS HP or Trackmania.
