GRID 2 – First Video Teaser Released

A month ago, Codemasters officially confirmed to be working on a successor for their Race Driver GRID title that was released back in 2008.

Now, a first video teaser has been released, showing off a short sequence starring the Pagani Huayra.

Right now, there’s little further info on GRID 2 available, the video does reveal the date August 8th 2012 in the end though.

Since that’s only a week away and we have yet seen any gameplay footage or solid info, this is unlikely to be the title’s release date, especially as Codemasters already confirmed the title won’t be out before the release of F1 2012 in September.

Hopefully, more info on the new title will be revealed at the set date, until then you can watch the teaser below.

Grid was one of last good Arcade-sim racing games. I hope it will be better then F1 from CM.

I think they release trailer at 8.8.

Looking forward to this. The first GRID had great physics. Hugely satisfying vehicle handling which was great fun for me to play, but at the same time simple enough for my ‘non-sim’ friends to play with. Great memories of lanning this with 11 other friends.

Agreed, its was a perfect example of a acessible gameplay yet very challenging and deep. Yes, it was arcade, but it was fun arcade. And plus, looks and runs great still. Altought, for PC I would recommend using a xbox 360 gamepad or a steering wheel, with anything else the game is a pain to adjust.

Looking forward for more news from that

Grid had the WORST racing physics of any arcade game, to the point it was unplayable. However, the drifting side of the game was the most fun I’ve ever had drifting.

My friends that can’t stand sims, love the original. I tried to like it, but sadly I couldn’t. It grabbed my attention enough to put a few hours in though, so I’ll give this one a shot too.

strange how peoples tastes differ, I think the drifting is where I lost my final straw with the game lol

Great physics? In what way? The controls were not even connected to your bloody controller. If you want arcade then what’s wrong with a game like RIdge Racer? Please explain the great physics as I really, really don’t know what you guys are talking about. No trolling

Funny how it works isn’t it, yeah the physics weren’t sim but that was one of the most enjoyable racing games ever created in my opinion. The sheer fun factor of tearing around against your opponents, swapping paint and bouncing over the inevitable debris on the track all the while feeling it rattle through your hands in some of the most immersive FFB. Awesome stuff. My only concern is that codemasters are stretching themselves too thin and releasing so many products that the overall quality will drop.

I wonder what you think about NFS shift games or TDU 2 if you think GRID had the worst arcade physics.

  • Mark

I seriously recomend you playing it with a xbox 360 gamepad or a wheel, really, keyboard or any generic analog pad are terrible for grid. imvho Grid worth the shot if you enjoy some casual fast paced racing between your sims.

  • Mark

Indeed, altough Grid had too much categories such radicals, WTCC and open wheels that I didn’t care, but this is something I complain since earlier Race Driver games. If could choose, I would only drive GT1/GT2, Pro tuned/muscle and exotics on events. But that just me, I’m sure plenty of people enjoy the variety.

ridge racer? the game which you can drift in 200km/h?

  • Marco Hooghuis

Yes, that’s good arcade fun for me. Not grid.

I can’t use M&K for any “Realistic” racing games, heaven only knows how people play rFactor with them. I played Grid on the xbox 360 with a pad, something just didn’t gel.
Project gotham racing I love playing with a pad, can’t stand it with a wheel, I think I’d feel the same for grid, pad only. Maybe I should give the wheel a shot this time around…

  • Mark

yeah, but to be fair GRID is just a good game, PGR is a masterpiece, that’s why you have a better time on it,
