Grand Slam Beta 0.2 – Released

Right in time for today’s Rolex 24 Hour race at Daytona, Team Players have released a new beta version of their Grand Slam Rolex Sports Car Series mod for rFactor.

While the first beta only included all Riley entries to the 2006 Rolex season, version 0.2 includes three new prototype models by Porsche, Doran & Crawford powered by a variety of engines.

As with the first beta, Team Players is looking for lots of feedback. So make sure to share your experiences with the new version in this RSC topic.

Important: Please make sure to fully delete beta 0.1 before installing as the Riley has undergone some changes in the new build.

    Be carefull, an RFM error causes CTD.
    See this thread to find solution:

    “”In the RFM file, there is a line that goes like this:
    TracksDir=C:\Program Files\rFactorORIG\GameData\Locations

    I replaced it with this:
    //TracksDir=C:\Program Files\rFactorORIG\GameData\Locations”"

    Just an excellent, excellent mod. If this is the Beta, I can’t wait to see the finished product! Hopefully they can incorporate some GT cars, even if it’s just porting them in from another mod with permission.

    I like that each DP has its own unique features. They all sound different, have slightly different horsepower, and handle just a bit differently. Also aero seems to be a little different too. They’re much more tossable and easier to recover than Lemans Prototypes too.

    I agree with tigeraid, if this is a beta, I’d like to see the finished product!

    Most everything looks incredible! The best part is the physics are spot on. There is little to no noise when you crash, but honestly, who runs into walls anyway??

    My only beef: As a primarily single player racer with rFactor, I’m doing everything I can to set the car up to stay near the AI — And I’m finding it impossible. On 100%, a perfect setup and best lap has still fallen about 4 seconds short of all the other cars at Daytona(they’re Daytona Prototypes, might as well test at Daytona!!). I have to drop the AI strength to about 85%, and still can barely keep up, though much more manageable at that rate.

    I tried the Daytona track with the SCC v1.2 mod and didn’t have the same issue, so it’s likely not the track.

    Not that big an issue, just something to point out — I’ll post it on RSC once the forums are back up.
