Even though the title’s 12th birthday is coming up quickly, Grand Prix Legends is still very much kicking – Thanks to a very active modding community.
Below are lots of preview screenshots, showing several work-in-progress mods that will enrich GPL with lots of new cars.
Previews include various sports cars like the Ford GT40, the Lancia Stratos rally car and several very historic racing cars such as the Auto Union Streamliner, the Mercedes-Benz W196 and the Ferrari 375.

I would love to see that game open sourced. If so, I would start an OS X port in the next minute.

How is his comment trolling?
I´m quite sure a lot of people would welcome a OS X version of GPL as the title isn’t very hardware-dependant and would suit most Macs very well.

I’m not trolling, that ridiculous.
For example, I spend a lot of my time with developing for a commercial version of the osirix-viewer ( http://www.osirix-viewer.com )
For GrandPrixLegends it has OpenGL support for the first version on, so a port to the mac would be much easier than a pure DirectX game.
GPL is one of the few games that I keep playing since it’s released. To be exact: Before GPL was released, Papyrus was on a game fair in cologne where the had an old F1-Style simulator. They invited me there to take a test ride and gifted me a GPL tshirt.
So, I’m very emotional about GrandPrix Legends…. and I would love to have it in OS X.
And I’m pretty sure, that a lot of linux users would also like to port it.

I, for one, would love a Mac version of any of these great games. I had GPL running perfect on my Intel Mac Mini under Bootcamp, and it gave me the bug for racing sims, so I ended up having to build a Windows machine just to play all these awesome games. It’s my first Windows machine (ever!) after owning Macs for the past 12 years. I love my Macs, and I love my new PC, but I would have preferred to stay on the single platform of OSX.

Sigh, there are always people who will use destructive criticism instead of constructive criticism.
Please use a normal grammar as well, “obvious mactroll is obvious” is redundant and incorrect grammar.
I dont have a mac and ill probably never have one, but it would be graet for mac users to have this sim, so i hope there will be a port one day.
I love gpl.

BTW, I wrote a mail to Activision yesterday….. I really don’t think, that they will open source it, but at least I tried it ;)

Cool, great initiative. I think you are right about that, it takes a miracle for them to give it away.
