Gran Turismo – PC Version Ahead?

In a recent interview, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has shed some light on the future of Gran Turismo. As announced a few days ago, the recently released Gran Turismo Prologue will get a significant update in due time.
Part of this update will be a vehicle damage model, a true innovation for Gran Turismo. Yamauchi is promising quite the leap forward, saying that damage will not be just optical but have in depth influence on how the damaged car will handle. Data for the damage model will be collected from real-life crash tests to make it as realistic as possible.
The complex damage model is one of the reasons Gran Turismo 5 seems to be more far ahead than expected. While initial rumors indicated a release somewhere in 2009, Yamauchi know says that any release date sooner than late 2009 is out of the question.
There’s surprising news for those of you that don’t like the idea of buying a Playstation 3 just to play Gran Turismo. Yamauchi confirmed that Gran Turismo will most likely not be released for any other console but a PC release is not out of the question. Sony would like to make an impact on the Chinese market and a PC version is believed to be the best choice. Either way, we will all have to wait quite a long while…and enjoy Prologue until then.
