The cars are just way WAY too shiny.

Agree. It makes the cars on the first shot a bit toyish. Not that bad on other shots. Not sure I like their “low dynamic range” look. Very similar to what my cell camera do in a sunny day: everything are either deep dark or plain white. Think they need to ad a bit haze to make things not so contrast.

I hope, they will release a track list soon. And I hope, physic will be realistic minimum as Race On. I think to hande, I don’t want car setup and tuning, just drive. I saw a GT4 Nordschleife onboard video. It was too fast and very arcade.

Does that look photo-real. Nope! IRacing looks far better then that.

  • stabiz

Come on, iRacing does not look better than that.

you make me laugh! the days PC games looked superior are over thanks to the Cell processor and its SPUs. Now the problem it’s too real lol!!! What an anti-climax from a blind fanboy! I know who you are lol!!!

Indeed. These screens may have some exaggerated effects, but are way better than any sim we are used to drive on PC. And even better than Shift, imho.

This game’s biggest graphical problem is that everything looks too clean. Besides that though, I think this game and GT5P has the most realistic looking lighting I’ve seen in any racing sim/game yet.

That some of the strangest post-effects engine rendering I’ve ever seen. It’s got some bizarre sharp yet whispy lines coupled with the motion blur. No doubt it’s pushing beyond what the engine is capable of running in real-time but at least they arean’t photoshopped again after those FM3 photo-mode shots.

While I’ll agree the the fresnel effect is very bright, it is spot on and probably needs to be shown off. What I don’t like at this point is the lack of dirt and although the lighting in GT5 is very sophisticated, there is still a lack of global colour illumination on the matte textures, which means the surface is made up only with shades of grey.
I tend to hate matte finish in all games because it just makes the car look like it’s missing textures. It’s the same in Shift.

I thought GT5 would address this finally but thanks to stupid consoles limited power they can’t do it real-time, even though PC’s have had the technology for a while. :haha:

    Lols.

that looks pretty, add some jaggies and that’s how it will pretty much look in-game.

  • Jos

but damn this game could’ve been so much better if it was released on the PC platform!

  • drdryvillage

Who cares about the looks? It will drive like crap. I hope i’m wrong.

the interior on the Audi looks pretty jaggy to me.

It is not a Nissan, it is a Hyundai.

It’s an Infiniti, which is Nissan’s luxury divison.

you’re a dick its the guys doing the game design people rendering the cars lighting whatever im not a game designer but i know enough to know its not because its a cell processor its how the game is designed to look, they all have the architecture similar to direct x except console versions are dumbed down versions. theres a big difference between stills and actual in game footage be jaggad edges because cell isnt as powerful as you seem to be making out anyway .
