Gran Turismo 5 To Support Playstation Move?

The British MCV gaming business magazine has picked up on an interesting rumor regarding Gran Turismo 5. According to a source close to Sony, GT5 will not just be one of the first Playstation 3 titles to be available in 3D but also support Sony’s upcoming Move controller system.
According to the source, both features have played a huge role in the extended development time of Gran Turismo 5 and might just be the reason why the March-release in Japan was hastily called off earlier this year. But while driving in 3D can arguably add something to the immersion, it’s hard to understand what the Move compatibility will add to Gran Turismo 5. A title that is advertised as “Real Driving Simulator” should be driven with a proper steering wheel or, the very least, a gamepad.

More details on this can be expected in 22 days as Gran Turismo 5 will be having a major presence at this year’s E3 Entertainment Expo. The Playstation Move is Sony’s take on a motion-sensing game controller that has made Nintendo’s Wii console popular among many gamers. The controller is used together with a Playstation Eye webcam that tracks the players’ movements. Move is planned to hit the market in Q4 2010, selling for around 100 US-Dollars.
Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects. There’s no date for either the release of the Japanese or the International versions yet. GT5 will be one of the first six Playstation 3 games to be available in 3D.
