I think far by the most impressive thing is that motion blur on the wheels.

I bet only a few people actually care about this but ever since the many versions of flight simulator, nobody but GT5 seems to have mastered the concept of high speed rotating objects. It's always been a system based on 2 or 3 textures that simply switch to create the desired effect.

I mention flight sims because it's obviously more important graphically than wheels on cars, but still if the games industry as a whole can learn from what GT5 is pioneering (possibility) than we can all benefit.

No hating at all. I actually a fan of GT. Just think it would looks better if it would be a bit less flashy and have a bit more atmospheric ambient light in shadows.
They try to simulate a camera "cinematic" vision too much imho. The humanity have had never survived as a species if we had that kind of vision when a half of the sky is blindly white and the shadows are so black that there is no chance to capture details hiding there.

Come on guys. Yes, it is probably in Photo Mode. But it is still among the BEST, most realistically looking screenshots from an upcoming game I have ever seen. Yes, the contrast is high, but it looks damn good, still. And yes, perhaps the cars are too shiny compared to real life. But it's Gran Turismo, it's supposed to be like that. You will not find any console game/sim that gives you better graphics than GT5 will. Stop the hating on Gran Turismo, please.

Even in the "photo" mode it looks a bit to contrast for being realistic. I would call it "Low Dynamic Range" mode for a similarity with what cheap cameras usaly produce: washed out lit spots and almost black shadows. That kind of lighting is possible on the Moon maybe, where is no atmosphere at all.
That problem is very common on consoles although. The games always looks like being painted with too much black ink.

Looks very nice but we all know they are photomode and not in-game screenshots. So I no longer get impressed by these and would like to see in-game cockpit view pics that are not "photomodeshoppedtohell".
