Gran Turismo 5 Prologue To Sell 4 Million Copies

According to official sales figures, Polyphony Digital is close to sell four million copies of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for the Playstation 3.

Released in early 2008, Prologue is not much more than a teaser of what’s to come with Gran Turismo 5, consisting of only six tracks and 37 cars. Despite being just a teaser-title, Prologue has been updated three times, receiving updates in terms of content and features.

The majority of copies (over 2.3 million) have been sold in Europe, making it GT’s main market ahead of the United States (800.000 copies) and Japan (600.000 sales).

Selling 4 million copies of what is basically an extended demo… you cannot help but marvel at the business skills of the developer and think about the state the target audience is in.

It might be nothing more than a flashy “demo” but it at least held my attention longer than most full games do.

Money well spent imo, and if the license’s count towards the full version like they did for GT4 then i’ll be even more happy

:sd: The only reason to get this game, is the Ferrari F2007 :sd:

Now at spec III we have over 70 cars (with a few “tuned” models but otherwise no duplicates) and the physics are really pretty decent when you stick it in sim mode and turn all driving aids off.

The main selling point of GT5 Prologue for me was the combination of amazing graphics, reasonable physics, lots of licensed cars and the ability to actually use my PC wheel. It’s a nice way to use your PS3 outside of as a bluray player ;)
