Gran Turismo 5 – Preview Videos Galore

A mysterious Youtube user named mimaximax has recently been posting lots of preview videos of Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 5 for the Playstation 3.

The videos have been taken from a new demo version that has been used on various occasions and include Super GT & rally cars on tracks such as Tokyo, Fuji and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Below are some of the most interesting ones, the full collection of videos can be watched in mimaximax’s Youtube channel.

Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects. There’s no date for either the release of the Japanese or the International versions yet.

    Nice.

That Loeb video was hilarious. Shows why GT5 is going for the real “driving” simulator and not racing simulator. Loeb is cruising around, looking totally sedated, listening to soft elevator music and playing with his flappy paddles looking for a parking spot.

The graphics is impressive but the music combined with the fact that he is not struggling with any G-forces does not convey the feeling of intense racing…

This Loeb video is ridiculuos because this is NOT Sebastian Loeb XDDDDD

Insane graphics. Lightning is truly photorealistic. What if RF2 would look like that? Hopefully RF3 does.

If only they put as much effort into making the game fun instead of an art show they could have had a good game.

Also the world looks too clean to be real. There needs to be the smell of petrol in the air not air freshener.

They should have made a Sunday driver game where you can cruse around and admire the views.

Does anyone know if GT5 will feature 16 cars on the track? i thought i’d read that somewhere else a while ago.
and furthermore, we often get to see super gt cars. sure, gt5 is a japanese brand, but will gt5 have GT1, GT2, GT3, GT4, LMP2 and LMP1 cars as well? and i mean modern ones, not the old C Prototypes or just the Toyota GT-ONE?

Watched these videos yesterday it self  mimaximax has uploaded lots of videos but they all are cam vids and older built. Gfx are more or less same as before :sad2: Having said it still looks pretty awesome, as always.

As far as I know they have license of Super GT series, WRC and NASCAR. Indy Series got canceled or something ?

They will have all sort of car though. Le mans 24hrs also will be included I think.

I don’t think they have full super GT licensing, or the current WRC license either, I remember them showing a lot of older cars so I think it’s like the F1 thing where they just picked out a few from the series that were well known but didn’t do the whole thing. I don’t think the Indycar thing was ever true, think it was just a rumor started by some PS3 fanboy website.

WRC 2010 license they do not have. Because that game is already in development by the makes for V8 supercars, SBK I think.

However, I am pretty sure they have some license. May be License of WRC, Super GT cars and tracks. But I won’t be surprised if there is championship mode as well

Putting WRC cars on a closed street circuit is stupid. Just plain stupid.

What’s next from GT 5? Monster trucks on the Nurburgring?

WRC cars compete as often on tarmac rallies as dirt.

Anyhow, these clips are all from the arcade mode, which in previous games gave you a limited selection of cars.

Many of the really exciting cars needed to be unlocked in GT Mode, the only Ferrari’s we’ve seen so far are the Enzo and 458 (plus the Prologue Ferrari’s), yet many classics like the P4 are known to be in the game.

Basically little new has been seen publicaly apart from the odd car and Indianpolis.

GT is one of the main sponsor of the Super GT series and they have had the license even when it was known as JGTC. Almost all the cars will be featured although at this point we don’t know which tracks will be in the game.

    Tensor-

16 cars is max for both on and offline races. These videos are from older GT5 demo but the recent one have shown at least 12 cars on the tracks.

There a few LMPs in GT4- the Audi R8 and Courage (team Pescarolo is sponsored by Playstation) and older Toyotas and Mazdas. I’m sure there will be updated version of LMP cars as well as FIA GT cars. So far we know the 370Z GT4 will be in the game, as well as the R8 GT3. And I’m sure the new SLS GT3 will be in as well, Sony just announced that GT5 will have a setup and show at this year’s Le Mans. Hopefully, we’ll see lineup LMP cars and GT cars there.

JAGUAR1977: WRC cars compete as often on tarmac rallies as dirt.

No kidding. But those stages take place on public roads, not temporary street circuits. There was one superspecial, either last year or in 2008 — I can’t remember — that took place on an urban street circuit in Spain.

Otherwise, WRC cars on temporary street circuits are dumb. But hey, it’s the “Real Driving Simulator” — so it must be real!
