The guessing games around Polyphony’s Gran Turismo 5 might be over very soon as the GamesCom expo in Cologne starts today and major news on the GT franchise are expected.
Several sources suggest that Gran Turismo 5 will be playable at the expo, a shaky Youtube video made by someone who managed to sneak into the exhibition hall shows several large HDTV screens equipped with steering wheels in the Sony booth.
Furthermore, Sony has scheduled a three-hour (!) press conference that starts in a few minutes, the confrence is expected to reveal the Playstation 3 Slim as well as more on Gran Turismo 5.
Update: The Playstation 3 Slim and the appendant price drop to 299 Euros/Dollars for all Playstation 3 models was indeed anounced, no further info on Gran Turismo 5 was given though.

I am talking about a game only coming on PC that forces console gamers to buy a Great PC to play it.
and not the other way around

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just another video and Kaz making snarky comments about his competition. “PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO US, OUR HYPE IS BETTER THAN ANY FLOOR DEMO!”

Because PC racing games don’t sell anything like as well as console racing games, so no one is going to spend anything like as much developing a PC only game as they spend on a title like Gran Turismo.
Indeed, the days of PC only racing games which you can buy in your local store seem to be over.

I’m actually getting excited for Forza. Of course then I watched the promo video on Xbox Live of the drifting and cars behaving completely like cars DON’T and my interest waned again.

That’s always the danger of trying to appeal to everyone. I know that video was Turn10’s attempt to show that they didn’t forget about the forza players that would rather direct videos than race cars, however, most people don’t know that and it’s not like you can control who watches what.
