This flick was apperently filmed from a replay in b-spec. I dont think the physics is on full simulation either.

The track disappeared for a bit is a replay bug and does not exist when you drive anymore btw. It did in the demo build.

You’re right in both, the physics/damage/AI we have seen so far from all the videos out there are from the beginner series.

From now on I will cal this game Kick Opponent’s Butt Challenge. :)
It’s very annoying how much this guy love the contact with other cars, and in top of all without consequences.

What’s with the head shaking every time he brakes? Are all the brake discs warped massively or something?

Lol i still love how the fanboys defend this overhyped crap. Doesnt matter if it was on easy or hard, its dodgem cars for retards. And as for delaying it to polish it off, not even the replay can render the track!
And its interesting how high the sun is in the sky just before the 2nd karousel yet how remarkably dark the track became. Sun was high enough for at least another 1 and a half hours of light.

And as some people would note the driver was bad, but then anyone who thinks GT is realistic must be a bad driver.

a 7 minute lap round the Ring with that amount of bad driving, contact and wrong lines into corners is just a joke. Racing SLSs , R8s or 911s do it under 8 minutes when it’s very good lap – with a very good driver.

Jezz, give the driver a break. You really can’t expect everyone to be as good as you.

Anyway, I love GT series, played GT4a bit, and mostly enjoyed it, because of that driving without pressure, cars are easy to control, but still it’s addictive.

I wanted to say that some promo videos like this one are not good, because after watching them GT5 can look funny and someway retarded.

I’m waiting for some serious driving with AI, simulation mode. :)

Polyphony spent 2 years on this track, Mercedes was extremely impressed with the 1:1 scale of the track.

Havent seen a single video where the AI is competitive…..or competent.

Errrrr, the track is top notch, but the grip is arcade, maybe because of that begginer series, dunno.
What Simon said, sports cars like in this video do under 8 mins when it’s a very good lap. Way too much grip. I remember some older GT3 video, when the guy do a lap at Suzuka with Honda NSX, about 15 seconds faster than the real time for that car, i loled. And tha car on that video was stock model I think.

Cars have grip that is out of his world and are so easy to drive that you have to try very hard to spin them. Yeah I know a Super GT car has lots of grip to make up for its relatively low power, but that downforce is not achievable at the Ring with the bumps and the increased ride height necessary to clear them. The track is A1, now real simulation of vehicule dynamics is needed to do it justice.

There are multiple real-world to GT world comparisons out there where a car magically gains 10 seconds in the game. And there was a similar comparison at Road Atlanta with another game and the gap was down to 1 second.

Sure, just making the point that someone should make a video in expert or professional mode or whatever its called. I mean come on, the game is a week away from release and watching the AI drive like Milka Duno in every single video isnt exactly a good look.

But: We have version 5 now, and still have an AI, that is not affected by any collisions and constanly ignore players presence. This is farcical !
The “battle” at around 1:00 would have caused a severe crash in reality. Sony should have really put work into this, if they want to be “The real driving simulator”.

Yes GT was and is a really impressive game, but one claiming it to be realistic simply has not seen a real sim racing game (e.g. GTR, rFactor, iRacing, LFS).

So there is no dust plumes that gets kicked up from the ground when cars go onto to the grass. 
or wind that effects the dust, or dust that gets affected by light, or a track that reacts to your cars headlights
there is no time transition, or even realistic smoke effects
RFactor is a joke, all they can do is physics, thats why they can’t sell there product to millions it is an incomplete project!

The road surface modelling is cutting edge in GT5, even the track looks more vibrant,
Cockpit view is intense
The Sky looks like an actual Sky unlike RFactor where the sky looks like a 8bit RGB color

ISI dont need to sell their product to millions of clueless assholes because they can just sell their products to real racing teams. Those people are generally more interested in physics rather than “realistic smoke effects”.

I am really looking forward to play this game.

The sad part is that there will be 15 opponents max and not more than 5 laps in the average races. That does not feel like racing to me… that feels more like hotlapping with some friends.

Feels a bit like an eye candy soccer game with 1000+ different players avialable, but you can only pick 6 per team. I doubt that a NASCAR race with 16 cars (instead of 43) will be that enjoyable… or a  24h event on the Nordschleife. I am not asking for the real 200+ grid but some more opponents would be great.

I will love this game anyway there is still room for improvement. Maybe for GT6 on the PS4.

Today this is completley wrong.

If you look at cross platform titles, the pc-version is always much better in terms of texture resolution, view distance, AA, AF a.s.o.
The silly thing is, that they could look much better, if the devs would not had to take account of the limited caps of the consoles. ;)

What actually is true, that there are always games that dont come to the pc for some mysterious reasons. For example the Skate series from EA.

2) when talking about a “real driving simulator” i think physics is the MOST important thing.

You probably never had the opportunity to get your hands on a sim like rFactor or even iRacing.

Anyway, owning a PS2, XBOX360 and a N64 i am probably on PC fanboy.

But i don’t think that gt fans from past games would except that kind of movement, there would be a huge backlash, gt5 movement seems to be a bit more tame, I can feel myself getting sick ive i played that game for more than 30 minutes no offence looked great though!

suuuuure, if you buy new 2000$ worth pc every 6 months then u are able to enjoy that graphics on max (in most cases on medium) setting ;) this is ridiculous

lol I have almost 2 years old PC, I paid for it about 500 USD (2 years ago) and still I can play almost anything. And thanks to moddable games like rFactor I have access to almost infinite content, whereas you must wait several years what developers prepare for you…

If you think that rfactor is not immersive, take a look at my a bit customised rfactor:

For me, this customised F1 1991 mod is most immersive sim I have EVER played, sense of speed is amazing, and generally i’t a blast to drive. Ofcourse you can change the deah physics or shaking, that is a question of taste, everyone can customise rfactor to suit their taste. You can’t customise that stuff in GT5, so…

Don’t talk about something that you don’t know well. ;)
