Below is a new preview video taken from the Gran Turismo 5 demo on the Tokyo Auto Salon, showing the Nissan GT-R on the Nürburgring Nordschleife from cockpit video.
This video shows us a good third of a full Nordschleife lap, all the way through Metzgesfeld. Full laps of the legendary Green Hell won’t be available anytime soon given the strict time limit on these showfloor demo versions.
Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects. There’s no date for either the release of the Japanese or the International versions yet.

It’s time to release a real (from a cable) in-game video already. Starting to think they try to hide something. Come on, taken low-res from a tv it’s almost no difference with RB rally video. Looking forward for that game actually. Do hope they improved their in-game graphics after Prologue.

It’s a rumor I think, but I heard that GT5 will have a track editor. Is this true?

Yes it is true! The track editor will be bundled with an AI editor, the code will look something like this…
if(carInFront){
ram.It.Hard(10)
} else {
do.Rubber.band(fast)
]

I like how the AI car that rams the player at the end doesn’t seem to be affected by it at all. It just keeps going straight forward on rails like it weighs several hundred tons. The collisions in the GT games, regardless of the lack of damage, has always been ridiculous.

I just hope that they FINALLY fixed this bug
while(car.IsTurning)
{
Environemt.PlayThoseNastyTireScreechSamplesVeryVeryLoud(); // 02.05.1997 16:10 I’ll refactor this later
}
the hands on the steering wheel behave a bit strange, it might be the pre released version, but it would be sad to see this behavior in the released version.

Nice touch suggesting the code is from 1997…
I know it is hard to write really good AI, but writing better AI than that… I mean, come on Mario Kart nailed it compared to this…
About the hands… I agree it looks strange but if you have small fixed paddles, not turning with the wheel I guess that is one way to do it. However driving at 200+ I would probably like to keep both hands on the wheel as much as possible and just move my hand when I need to shift, and not have it in ready mode, hovering the paddle for several seconds before shifting…
