Polyphony Digital has released a new batch of high-resolution Gran Turismo 5 screenshots, showing various race cars in the Playstation 3 driving title.
The shots include several WRC Rally cars as well as other competition cars racing on the fictional Tokyo street circuit, the shots also show the title’s damage system in action.
Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects. The title has been announced to be released in March 2010 in Japan, dates for the US & Europe have not been given.

New screenshots showing damage, but they have not made any improvements it seems. There still doesn’t seem to be any deformation or scratches.

All of these screenshots are from the TGS demo, the latest damage etc. has only been shown behind closed doors.

I read somewhere that not all cars will have full damage… its insane to do 1000 cars with 1000 cockpits with full damage plus tracks etc ^^

There was few dirt stages already in GT2 and since GT4 also snow/ice stages.
And yes only race/rally cars will have damage.
And if Im not badly wrong some concept and historical cars wont have cockpits at all. There is no need to make 1000 cockpits anyway, because for example many race cars are incuded multiple times with different liveries.

yes – there will be damage to racing cars only (about 180).. other standard cars will have simplified damage
yes – there will be other rally stages in GT5.. in GT4 was 7 rally stages.. I THINK there will be about 7 new (already have seen 2 or 3 from GT5 videos). so there will be about 14 rally stages + city courses.. why I mentioned city courses.. rally can be driven in cities so its very possible we will see GT5 WRC mode in a lot of stages.. maybe even all GT5 courses/tracks.. (hope so)
Nascar will feature some new great USA ovals..
and some new standard GT circuits.. (in GT4 there was +-50 circuits and in GT5 there will be.. or has to be, like its said on the web.. about 80 different tracks which is located in 20 different places around the globe.) so there has to be 30 new tracks.. which is a lot. the only thing is unknown.. for example – if one track has 3 variations mini, middle & long.. if it will count as a one ore three tracks in the list…………….
about 300 new cars (in GT4 there was 700+ cars) so u can imagine.. about 50 rally cars, 50 nascar cars and about 200 new great models like in GT5 prologue (70 cars) we are left with about 130 cars.. they probably will be Lambos, Ferrari and other standard road and race cars..
all this info is what I read on the web.. so some of this may not be true!
cheers

From what I’ve read all cars will have cockpits and damage.
The damage is being designed for each individual car/class and is dynamic rather than the generic damage seen so far. WRC’s, NASCAR’s and possibly all racecars, will deform, crush and roll in as realistic a manner as possible, whereas the likes of Ferrari roadcars will have more superficial damage.

damage damage damage,
I think there are more important things like creating better car sounds and day/night cycle and weather change…
this game would look stunning with a nice evening sky a shiny wet road surface…
