Gran Turismo 5 – New Previews & Date Speculations

Now that Polyphony Digital has succesfully announced Gran Turismo 5 for the Playstation 3 on the GamesCom expo, the question on everybody’s mind is: When will it be out?

Even though no official date has been given yet, the strong rumors about a Christmas release have once again be backed up by GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi who commented that Gran Turismo 5 will be out shortly after Gran Turismo Mobile for the Playstation portable has been released. The PSP version is due to be released on October 1st, making a Christmas release more and more likely.

Below are some new previews, showing the menu shots in higher resolution as well as high-res grabs from the GamesCom floor demo. Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects.

    I’m still suspicious of the 1000 cars. Or will it be something like this:
    Renault Super 5:
    -1100cc
    -1400cc
    -1400cc turbo
    -1700cc
    -1600cc diesel
    +injection/carb versions
    +equipment vesrions (Campus, Five, GTL, GTX, etc. + glass roof equipped varaints)
    +sporty versions (GT Turbo, GTE)? :weird:

    You will have some “similar” models with just a facelift or such, but not all cars will have that range like you are describing
