Gran Turismo 5 – New Damage Previews

A playable demo of Sony’s upcoming Gran Turismo 5 title is now available to be tried out in various BestBuy stores, featuring a new version of the title’s damage system.

As you can check out in the shots and the video below, the cars suffer quite some extensive but odd-looking damage. People who`ve tried the demo report that the level of possible damage differs with each car even from the same manufacturer. While the Ferrari 458 you can see in the video can be heavily damaged, Ferrari’s Enzo model suffers less damage upon contact.

Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects. GT5 will be one of the first six Playstation 3 games to be available in 3D. The title will be out on November 2nd in the North & Latin America, the European & Japanese release will follow a day later with Australia wrapping up the release on November 4th.

  • SoloTwo

lol video is down already.  That was quick.

didnt you hear, Sony spent the last 6 months working to cut a deal with transformers so when you crash the cars start to turn into them, thats why the Nasscar is in there, to promote Trans3. :-$

Damage looks weird on some pics.  Pic 3 looks like its been put throught the Liquify filter in Photoshop, as do some of the others.
And I do not need to see the gorgeous Ferrari 458 Italia all bashed up.   Besides they’re supposed to spontaneously combust aren’t they ?

The headlights on that crashed cars are looking really weird. Strange position.

  • stabiz

I think some of those look very good, while others look weird.

  • jimmy

Will 458 Italia also accidentally catch fire like in real life?

  • ^Yours

with this kind of question certainly it will

  • paskowitz

People wanted damage, well now you have it. IMO its MUCH better than nothing.

    looks great

(I’m just thinking of the consequences of saying the truth here. they are laible to wanting to release a perfect game, and delaying it for yet another year ti rewrite the damage model)
