Gran Turismo 5 – NASCAR Damage Video

We´ve seen quite a bunch of videos showcasing Gran Turismo 5′s damage model but none involving the NASCAR Sprint Cup cars yet. This changes now as the video below gives us a first impression on how damage on the NASCAR cars will look.

A few months ago, Kazunori Yamauchi promised that the NASCAR cars could be “destroyed up to the smallest bolt” and while that can’t be seen in the video yet, damage on the Cup cars already looks more advanced than on other vehicles. Keep in mind that this is footage from the Playstation BETA event that happened earlier this month, the full damage model is said to not be revealed before the GamesCom expo later this month.

Gran Turismo 5 will be bringing 1000 cars and over 60 tracks to the Playstation 3, including new features such as damage, weather and day/night effects. GT5 will be one of the first six Playstation 3 games to be available in 3D. The title will be out on November 2nd in the North & Latin America, release dates for Europe and Japan have not been confirmed yet.

I noticed the driver selected traction control.  I can’t remember from Gran Turismo Prologue, but can you use traction control on any car whether it had it or not.  NASCAR definitely doesn’t have traction control.  Same with multiple tire choices.  Maybe all that’s removed in Pro mode physics, but I can’t remember.
